sheaker
Dear All, I am using (trying to use!) Filter Gate to provide exact amount of liquid oxygen into the rocket. It should be 515kg. I have large deposit of liquid oxygen with small liquid pump connected to it. Automation is not directly connected to the pump itself but to the wire switch. Circuit is not overloaded. However I can not get 515kg of oxygen into the fuel tank. In fact every time I am loading the game and trying again, I am getting different results. For example: At first attempt with 515 sec filter time I get 513.8kg of LO2. So I added 1 sec. At second attempt with 516sec filter time I get 514.4kg of LO2. (Why only 0.6kg more?) So I added another sec. At third attempt with 517sec filter time I get like 516.7kg of LO2. (Why now it was more than 2kg difference?) How should I handle this? Gurgel
Set the limit on the rocket tank. Anything else does not really work. sheaker
But what to do with the oxygen left in the pipe? The pipe should be directed then back to the oxygen tank? Best regards, Sheaker Pumps aren't accurate. That's your problem. The first packet on a reload or even starting the pump will almost always have a smaller amount in the first packet. So in your LOX tank you must have a loop that ensure you have 1kg packets to draw from. For example like this (size greatly exaggerated to enhance clarity) Note that it is important to have minimum one pipe section between the output of the bridge and the pump output. sheaker
Thank You for this design. I am already trying to do a loop to liquid reservoir in vacuum. If I fail I will try Your suggestion. EDIT: So connecting valve to automation instead of pump would solve the problem? Nitroturtle
I find it much easier to accomplish this with a loop back to the reservoir. Then you can just simply add an element sensor after the rocket and stop pumping when you detect liquid. The remaining liquid will just drain back into the reservoir. sheaker
I will set just the right amount of liquid (time) + some additional time for buffer, like another 10 seconds. sheaker
There must be some trick to overcome this but when the LO2 reaches reservoir then first 20kg LO2 is flowing into two next liquid pipes sections in between LO2 reservoir and shutoff valve and just when the liquid stops due to closed valve then pipes became broken. sheaker
OK, I came to the conclusion that it is hard to sore LO2 in liquid reservoir. The best solution (preparation required) would be to put liquid reservoir with shutoff valve inside cold LO2 tank. When the valve and liquid reservoir output pipe gets cold from LO2 inside tank then it will most likely be possible to pump LO2 inside pipes without damaging them and the control the flow with the valve. In my situation I had too little space to use setup with liquid reservoir inside LO2 tank so I just loop the pipe to liquid drain inside LO2 tank. The loop is not fully connected because I am draining LO2 from old infrastructure yet. In this setup I will be controlling the flow via circuit breaker.
