So I built a system to allow magma storaging in form of debris. The contraption lets 990kg of magma enter the room where it is cooled down to form the debris that is then storaged. The debris is then cooled to a "chill" 130 degrees. In both processes it generates power from the heat. The room is in vacuum.

The contraption does not work all the time, so you may have to restart it sometimes and even rarely mine out the block.

While the magma->debris part is fast enought to prevent any type of overflow from several vulcanoes, the second part is very slow since it uses the most part of the heat. You can add several cooling chambers to increase the power output.

This idea may be already out, apologize to the first creator in this case.

Credits to Francis and Tony for the process idea.

I give this design 9/10 for the 1st stage magma boiler and 5/10 for the 2nd stage conveyor boiler, as it won't work while offscreen.

The 2nd stage boiler system that extract heat from the igneous conveyor rail will not work while offscreen.  Offscreen conveyor heat exchange is broken and in this design, will cause no heat to be extracted and the turbines will stop.  There is some post explaining how offscreen heat exchange on rails actually works and you have not implemented this.

Perhaps someone can post a link to how offscreen rail heat exchange works, as I can't explain it succinctly enough.  Basically, you need bridges, as all preceeding conveyor traffic to a bridge is exchanged with some tiles on and around the bridge.

For the 1st stage, you have bad heat conduction, the turbine closest to the magma will produce a lot of excess heat, which will get wasted.  Make sure the tiles at the top of the petrol chamber are insulators, ie probably best to remove them and also place some good conducting tempshift plates below these, spaced on every other tile.  The tempshift plates will help spread heat to the turbines furthest from the centre.

I didn't know about the heat exchange bug, Gonna look for it at this point. There are TP in the petrol chamber, granite at the bottom. There's a termosensor that will open the door at 200 C to prevent heat waste from the first turbine. I'm challening myself not using space materials. So it is granite TP at bottom and wallpapers ( mod ) at top where the steam is.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but i think you might find some inspiration in my latest magma tamer:

The last set of turbines on the right are there to cool down the rock to below 80c for safe consumption by hatches.

Note the shipping rail bridges inside the tiles. That's how you make it work even offscreen.

Have you submerged the turbines in salt water or something?  I didn't think they worked being submerged.

Offscreen rail heat exchange isn't obvious and it's totally a bug.  Klei should fix it asap, as it sucks big time.

It seems to be multi layer liquid, my guess is brine, s.water, water. But I think, using crude, petro, water would be a bit better. Not critically though.

Sometimes even the contraption doesn't work. Offscreen it often happens that no magma enter the cooling chamber at all, or more than 1472 kg enters and form a block. Right now with no recent updates ( last days ) I'm finding the sys releasing 1300 kg in the chamber while 3 days ago was 990kg all the time, off or on screen. Anyway I guess placing a bridge that ends in the "bottom door" tile shoud fix it, or the 2 door tiles work the same way? Playing with this idea I found weird bug while small pools of liquid ( 300gs ) flash into gas with no reasons at all. It took me a decent amount of reload to find it out. I'm trying to keep the magma below 1 ton for the sweeper btw.

Just noticed the update, it messed up with the contraption.

I have a solution to replace you’re rails

Magma pumps, replace the rails with pipes and have a valve near the pump that limits the flow of magma to 1/10 the flow rate (prevents pipes from breaking).

After the magma in the pipes is cooled to less than 80 you can pump it directly to hatches.

this solution fixes the off screen bug and is much less laggy than rails in general.

I know it’s not the best fix if you don’t want to exploit but I personally feel like it’s justified to use since rails are a pain to use as intended.
