Can we make a petition for Klei to let us disable INSANITY sound effects? (PART 2)

Imagine thinking "the developers will have to spend time on this instead of something actually worthwhile" is some ridiculous contrivance?

Yes, in fact, it does take time away from developing content when they opt to make small QOL features, unless you think for some reason Klei can just snap their fingers and dump features into the game as they wish, which is... Ridiculous. There's a reason things like this are at the bottom of the priority list, especially when those things already exist in the form of mods that you can install easily.

So... Should Klei...

Spend time developing new core content that for the most part, only they're capable of producing at a sufficient level of quality.

Or

Spend time fixing a small problem for which convenient solutions already exist and have existed for several months?

Quite a few of these have both new features, bug fixes, and QOL changes.  I don't buy the argument that all other production needs to stop if they wanted to implement a new QOL feature.  More than that - the supposed scarcity of time is not reason to withhold legitimate feedback of a product.  It takes zero time from Klei for users to give feedback here, including in the form of feature wishlists.

I think the presumptuous "petition klei to xxx" is a bit much, but voicing feedback should be a good thing, eh?

I'm actually in the camp of KEEPING the distorted insanity effects because it gives more of an incentive to stay sane. The distortion effects actually affect the gameplay, so I feel like removing it would remove much of the consequences of insanity to the point where most people would CHOOSE to stay insane. In fact, some veteran players already choose to stay insane because the ability to farm shadows OR unload the shadows is worth the distorted vision.

I didn't want to touch this thread as my opinions have already been said by others, but since the thread has went into a downward spiral (Not caused by me this time) I guess now's the time to voice said opinions in full.

I agree that the insanity sounds are a bit much. Their sole purpose is to provide not even a gameplay annoyance, but an auditory one. Honestly, I find the insanity saturation more annoying (especially if youre in a savanna biome) since you can just turn down the volume.

Im not against using small QoL client mods such as lowering insanity sounds, as said insanity sounds don't affect gameplay at all. Hell, I'd say they're in the same boat of "QoL" as geometric placement; it's a mod that makes your life easier, but not the game.

However, this doesn't mean that I believe we should adopt this mentality for all oversights and bugs in the game. If there's a problem that affects the game as a hole, why should we rely on a player-made fix (The Workshop)? Not every player will know about it and might stop playing the game, or in the case of console players, not have the ability to use the fix in the first place. It's silly to rely on a playerbase to (completely) fix a game, as that duty relies on the company/studio/creator(s). When it all comes down to it, Klei is a seller, we are the customers. I (and a lot others) care about Klei, but it's not necessarily our job to provide fixes for the vanilla game. (Before you bring up Uncompromising mode, that is a passion project, not a fix to menial bugs.)

Speaking of Klei, I have questioned the amount of quality assurance that they do, since the Wurt update. No, this isn't me about to rag about about Woodie again, it's me pointing out the fact that Wurt was very buggy on release. So much so that the main mechanic of they playstyle (Merm King) crashed very often (At least in my experience, in pubs) and Wurt basically had godmode if you switched from surface to cave, or simply left and rejoined the server. Merm AI was also a bit finnicky.

It's 30 minutes to midnight, so I most likely have a hole or two in this. Just point them out and I'll fix them in the morning when im not swamped with homework and an empty cup of coffee.
