Electrical Engineer Tune up driving me crazy

Recommended Posts

Ok, whats the deal with this? Is there a trick to it or is it just broken?

My engineer will spend all day trying to tune up generators and just randomly restart in the middle of the process. He doesn't move, I'm watching the errand list and it doesn't change. He'll just stand in the same place tuning a generator, sometimes getting to 95 percent complete before glitching and restarting. He's not even moving from where he is standing. He just jerks and restarts.  At first I had some other operational tasks competing for his attention, (i.e. I'm doing a complicated engineer task and must concentrate SQUIRREL!). But those have now been resolved and I'm still having problems.

I haven't tried tuning up a generator yet in the testing build, but it worked fine in QoL3.  I will say that the engineers did take quite a bit of time when their skill level was low, but I've never had one stop and restart at zero.

They restart every time interrupted in launch update, this is a known issue. What is interrupts them, that another issue. At least screenshot will much help figure it out. Are you using lamp with a motion sensor? Because that is what interrupt my engineers, my workaround until it fixed just disable my lamp.

Yeah its not the motion sensor lamp thing, I read about that. Its not running out of breath, although the engineer will run to get air if he even gets down to 70 percent breath which is annoying. The errand list isn't changing or blinking or anything. He just jolts and restarts. I also read that sometimes this can be caused by automation disabling the generator while its being tuned. But thats not whats happening here either. I'm on cycle 189 and engineer has an 18 machinery skill.

With the petroleum generator jumping from 2k to 3k power when its tuned, it gets very frustrating when it doesn't work. I'm doing the lumber ethanol thing.

On and yes this is the latest test build.

Saves tend to work best to find problems and if classified as bug, those help devs to squish them with the least amount of resources required.

So if indeed a bug rather than dupes just suffocating, generators turning off or etc (we can not check yet after all) then...

Step 1: Find similar bug reports.

Step 2: If still pending, contribute to them (with a save and description) or when Closed (but still think it is a bug), make another one.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Profit
