Operating should not include supplying generator material

Recommended Posts

My noodle arms dupe is sweating his balls off delivering 80 kg of coal to the generator at a time because the job falls under operating. For his priorities I disabled "supplying", "storing", and "life support" specifically to take him off supply tasks but needing to disable "operate" to fully accomplish this doesn't make sense.

Don`t forget farming or he will keep delivering dirt and slime to your farms.

I suggested a few times that all deliver tasks should be under supply/storage priority. But people seem to prefer when the deliver is tied to the job. Either way it`s not consistent as some deliver tasks are tied to supply and other not.

Thanks for pointing that out, that's so gross! Wonder why people prefer that considering nobody liked conflicting dupe qualities to begin with. Both farming and operating are relatively sedentary jobs which means you'd expect those specialties to not be penalized by traits like noodle arms or anemic.

It's just common sense to tight material supply to .. the supply priority. :p

And it will give more time for operators to tune up generators and operate other buildings.

For some cases like the coal generator, it can be avoided by isolating the generator in a room where the duplicant can't acces, but with a transport chute and an autosweeper. ;)

People just want the dupe to suply his own job rather than wait for couriers to do it and go off to do something else. Well some jobs should be tide to couriers no matter what. Jobs that consist of delivering only like supplying coal generators or the kiln should be under the supply priority while ingeredients for cooking or for the research stations could be delivered by dupes operating those.

For now there is a bit of a workaround. Lock the troublesome operate machines behind a pneumatic door. Duplicants can access a storage bin from one side, and autosweepers from the other side. The locked buildings will no longer interfere with a duplicant's tasks and the storage bin will provide a storage priority to the room. It's not quite a supply task, but there are too many supply tasks as is and storage gives a bit more control over where duplicants go.
