Guinaro Posted July 6, 2019 Share Posted July 6, 2019 I just realised that I'm actually missing an overlay, namely a Dupe and especially critter overlay. It's usefulness? When building up your base and some critters are roaming around, it is very easy to have them built over by one of your dupes. At some point you may realize that you seem to lack a wild/tamed critter, but which tile is it in. Resulting in a painstakenly undertaken quest of going over every single tile by hand to try to spot it. An overlay that simply marks all the critters and dupes on the map with a "heat" contrast would certainly make this task easier. I know that dupes can easily be found in a cool base with the regular heat map, but critters temps seem to be more in line with the biome itself. The overlay could be present from the start and if limited to critters onl:y when researching ranching in the Research Tree. You just have to "wrangle" on a wide zone. If there's a critter entombed in a tile, it will be marked. Flying critters or slicksters can`t be wrangled manually and they won`t show. Pufts will show in the germ overlay as slimelung sources. Shinebugs will have the light effect around the tile. We could use an "entombed" status for critters as an easy to implement solution. The only way I found it was going step by step over each tile. You look at the picture and tell me if the Pokeshell and Pips are so easily identified, especially if buried by a tile that has the same heat signature! Implementing a status effect on entombed critters also seem like a good solution! I tried the wrangling suggestion and it did indeed help. However still some critters cannot be wrangled, so a confined status icon would be handy. That seems to be indeed a better suggestion than an overlay.
