Temperature Units Change ALL

Recommended Posts

In Sandbox, I nearly accidently killed all my Dupes and melted everything, as I believe all the "Adjust Absolute Temperature" (and the Heat Gun) are in Kelvin, as opposed to my selected Celsius, so I had no clue what I was looking at. (Yes I'm also silly for not looking it up, but still...)

So if when you change the desired Temperature Units in Options, if it could encompass all temperature use that would be great. Thanks!

It does not matter. Degree is degree, no matter if celsius, kelvin or fahrenheit. A raise of 5°C is equal to 5°F or 5K (kelvin is written without °)

You problem was maybe, you thouhgt, the heat-gun is setting a fixed temperature, but it only adds or removes a set amount. You can add 10° or remove 10°, but you can not set a certain area TO 10°.

You are wrong about Fahrenheit, take a look at the formula:

°C = (°F - 32) / 1.8

Example:
0 °C = 32 °F
5 °C = 41 °F
10 °C = 50 °F

A raise by 5 °C would be a raise by 9 °F.

For °C and Kelvin the difference in temperature is the same though, since the formula is: °C = K - 273.15

Yes i forgot about the non-linear system of F.

F is linear. It's just not 0 at the same point as C. If I recall correctly, they are the same at -40. They aren't 1:1 when talking changing temperatures (like C and K), but the conversion is still linear. A non-linear conversion would be even more confusion, like changing from 10 to 20 C would be an increase of 30 F while increasing from 20 to 30 C would be an increase of 50 F. That would be even more messed up than it already is.
