Junksteel
Disinfect tool should be put in perspective. I ignored it when I started playing and nothing changed ever since. It bothers me having to erode the borders of the base in order to prevent contamination... even more after a couple hundred cycles. I don't like how a floating base looks at all... What if we had a Disinfection Tool capable of doing the job from the inside and then we don't have to break any walls? We do, but it's inefficient and as far as I know it won't eliminate the source of contamination even after a ton of dupe work and hundreds of cycles. Currently, it just indicates where you'll need to dig to get rid of contamination. Am I missing something about the tool? Gracefulmuse
I know its not exactly what you are asking but, I THINK the way that germs spread from slime tiles, that you would be fine not digging that stuff up. It has been my experience at least, that slime will spread germs to the surrounding tiles, but only in a 1 time raduis. Tiles other then slime do not seem to spread the germs. That means in your example picture, that insulation may be germ infested, but I do not think it will ever spread INTO your base becouse the insulation itself cannot spread the germ. I may be wrong about all this, but it has been this way every time I have personally observed it. Junksteel
What is the clever use of the tool? Not using it? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/105723-digging-the-only-disinfect-tool/#findComment-1189511 Share on other sites
Gracefulmuse
The only time I actually use it, is the times that I accidentally track germs into my place. For example, If I forget to set up a hand-washing station at a germy water dump, or a bunch of my dupes end up in the bathroom for some reason and block others from using the sink. Admitted rare, but when that happens I tend to disinfect my entire colony so that I maintain 0 surface germs inside the entire base. Well earlygame i tend to get some stuff covered in food poisoning germs. Like if a bed gets germed the dupe will get germed when sleeping and spread the germs to food eventually. The tool`s main purpose is to manually clean the buildings that get contaminated due to bad planning and germed dupes not washing their hands. If you plan your base properly there shouldn`t be much reason to use it.
