I wanted to give a little opinion on Warbucks, but it seems I got here a bit too late... Still I am going to abuse my right to an opinion and rudely place it in a spoiler:

I think Warbucks can still be "saved", but I am also sure it is not going to be.

The way to do such a thing is to separate him from his "archaelogical/explorer" side (after all, both Wagstaff and Wheeler fill this already) and make him a full-on filthy rich game hunter:

  • Starts with a pith hat, 10 oincs, and his own blunderbuss that can be loaded with oincs, gold nuggets, or dubloons; and the damage is based on the "value" of the item used (not my idea, but I think is cool). He got so much money he literally uses it as ammo. NOTE: just discovered our dear Wheeler has a similar weapon to the blunderbuss (just slightly more "general"), I am a bit surprised they gave it to a new character instead of trying it on Warbucks when they could (this is honestly an old suggestion, at least a month before Warbucks was removed). Still going to keep with this mess of a post, because why not.
  • Gains sanity while killing animals: more sanity obtained, the bigger the health of the enemy. Also gains sanity from buying stuff.
  • Shops sell him stuff at a higher price, and he gets less oincs when selling stuff (because he is a jerk, tourist traps, and he is willing to pay anyway because of his flamboyant nature).
  • Add "animal trophies" that he can craft from some of the items mobs drop (e. g. hipoppotamoose head from their horns, pugalisk's skeleton from their bones, an ornament of peagawk feathers, etc.) that you can use to decorate your pig house or base.
  • And his hunger/eating mechanic can stay as is. Maybe make him lose hunger while eating stuff like raw/cooked berries because it causes him indigestion; just to encourage the use of crock pot food.

EDIT: just in case, I didn't come up with any of this, this is just a recollection of what could make Warbucks more interesting and coherent as a character. Only thing I added is that he buys for more and sells for less (because why the hell not).

EDIT2: forgot to mention he should have low health since he is going to be mostly using his blunderbuss (so attacking from a far), I would say Maxwell's levels of health, but that might be too low?

As I already said: he is long gone. But one can only hope, after all, I really wanted to try a character that could viably attack from a far, and Warbucks was a promising character for that, but the devs had other ideas. Fair enough, Wheeler fills that niche anyway so... I mean, at least for the moment, they can change that tomorrow.
