Suggestion for three new buildings/Workaround possible?

Recommended Posts

Alarm

That would be just a small building under Automation. Would give an alarm (message in the upper left) if input signal is active, maybe with a customizable title. You could use it for example to connect it to a hydro sensor placed in some non-renewable water reservoir, so you won't miss connecting a new source.

Geyser Sensor

A small sensor to be placed close to a geyser that outputs a signal if the geyser is active or errupting. You could use that for example to prioritize NG generators when the geyser is active or to deny entry to a volcano. Could even be an automation port right on the geyser itself, it gets some blinking equipment after being researched anyway.

No-Carriage Gate

A gate/checkpoint that forces dupes to drop what they are carrying, possibly activated by an automation signal and/or only for set materials. That would greatly help with the unavoidable regolith/mafic rock crisis, where dupes store super hot materials in your base.

If anybody knows workarounds to achieve what these buildings would do, that'd be greatly appreciated! For the geyser sensor this seems the easiest (atmo or temperature sensors).

I am of course aware that ONI is about to leave early access, so their roadmap is surely already set. But one can dream!

I dont see the benefit fro a geyser sensor.

For volcanos just use a temperature sensor.

And you can always prioritize one power-generator over another. Just build a pipe-element sensor, and if the selected element is present, the NG-Generator is able to work, so the coal generator (for example) can shut down.

An alarm was suggested before. Would be a cool addition to make your own notifications.

A geyser sensor would be best if you could connect automation straight to the geyser (to that little swirling thingy your scinetist puts there afer analysing it). Sending an active signal each time the geyser starts erupting.

Forcing a dupe to drop an item is easy. Just break the path by closing a door for 1s. Determining what item they are carrying is the hard part. We could use a dupe scanner that would tell us what they are carrying or how hot is it.

As for the regolith and mafic rock getting into your base it`s a storage bin setting issue. If you have your filtration medium storage bins set to high priority and not to sweep only it might happen so you need to uncheck the regolith from those as soon as you discover it. The raw mineral storage will accept mafic only if you had all others checked before you discovered it. Just make sure you uncheck those 2 from your storage and/or build some storage for them outside the base. I also advise to uncheck igneous rock so they don`t deliver freshly solidified magma to your base.
