Fertilizer -> Dirt loop bug fixed?

I have done some calculation. It is just not sustainable. A puft produce  25g/s slime, so that is 12.5g/s dirt. A day it produce 7.2kg. One sleet wheat need 5 kg/day, and 2.5 wheat per dupe, so for each dupe, I need  1.7 puft. My colony is 20 dupes, and that would mount to 34 puft constanly groomed for max production! That is just not possible. I might as well just fly a rocket to bio-mass to get slime and algae to cook.  A biomass can appear at 9 cycle distance, and that consumes only water as fuel (petroleum is from water->-oil->petro too).  Roughly 900kg of petro and oxygen, so that is 900kg oil then 300kg water, and 1100 water for electrolyzing, and I get 2000 kg slime/algae which is 1000kg dirt per 9 day, so 100kg per day for 20 sleetwheat to feed 8 dupes.....

That sucks too.... Man I will just leave these sleet wheat wild. Too much effort for so little gain. Barbecue is equally nice anyway...

To get a lot of pufts, you have egg producing rooms that are groomed, but you dump most of the eggs into an ungroomed room. You could get 34 pufts while only grooming 6 or so. It’s a pretty complex setup - but sustainable.

Also, as someone else said, fertilizer adds complexity, but reduces the number of pufts needed.

Lastly, you *can* get polluted water to polluted oxygen without shenanigans. You can make a comb-shaped monstrosity of airflow tiles, where he comb is empty space. Fill the empty space with polluted water. This simply maximizes the surface area of the polluted water. So, it doesn’t feel cheaty. I’d you want a no-bottle cheat-like approach, you can use infinite storage of fluid approaches and get larger tiles of polluted water. Larger tiles offgas more.

Just tested: 25kg of fertilizer became 50 kg dirt block after heating to 125C. Diging you get 25kg of dirt, so fert to dirt is 1:1 ratio

That's the doubling bug where mass "sometimes" doubles when formed into a block.

It's not 100% and given how exploity it is, there's a good chance the devs will fix it before full release

I'd rather have them fix the part where the stuff you cook turns into a tile instead of debris regardless of its mass. It makes no sense when 10 kg of algae becomes a full block that has to be dug up.

I agree but the reason I feel the doubling bug will get fixed is that this has been exploited in more than just dirt.

You can create water, oil, and many other liquids simply by freezing and melting the element

What? DIY geysers aren't intended? :D

Two things here.

First, you have to spend quite a bit of effort to build something like that. Just like all the other high-end exploits in this game, it will remain strictly optional and probably out of reach of the vast majority of players.

Second, changing it so that cooking produces debris and not tiles is one way to make matter creation builds impossible. Can't exploit double mass on digging when there is nothing to dig in the first place.

It's a common side effect of neutronium contamination, natch. Time travel, alchemy, matter creation out of nothing... yup. It's all neutronium.

You forget I said, "I agree" no need to prove your point
