[DESIGN]Thermo Aquatuner as a Vaporizer

Heat pwater to 123°C, it turns into steam, and there will be dirt too which activates weight plates to open the left door, let steam out. Then those three doors will close in sequence from right to left, make sure to push everything out. and finally deactivates weight plates. After that, all doors open again except the left one, to let pwater pour in.

The trickiest part is when airlock closed, weight plate will be activated. So I have to filter this situation out, distinguish airlock from dirt, this purpose makes complexity. Since it's already pretty compact, I don't know how to improve it by now. Be ware that automation wire will cause heat leakage.

I use this unit for air cooling in my game and it vaporize about 5000kg pwater every 10 cycles. That's kinda slow(but can get steam in very early round of game), so maybe you guys could improve it a little bit. Just let me know.

Details:

  • Aquaturner room is filled with hydrogen. (better than oil in my test, but CMIW)
  • Two tempshifts right below the weight plates.
  • Left buffer gate 7 sec.
  • Left filter gate 5 sec.
  • All the other gates 4 sec.
  • Sweeper could be arranged to remove dirt, since the fresh dirt is pretty hot, loop the rail back into heating room will slightly accelerate the heating.
  • Looped radiant gas pipe with hydrogen could be arranged to take some heat from the left room to right.
  • Radiant liquid pipe should be avoid unless you use oil in it.
  • If there's no room for gas pump automation, you can still use a power shutoff to control it somewhere else out of this room.
  • The single top door could be replaced by a three-door vacuum insulating set, but it'll increase the complexity of automation, means less room for other equipments.
  • Top reservoir is open in my real game, so I can pour pwater around without using any electric power. And a pair of mesh tiles are built to prevent from dropping things on weight plates. 

 

 

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. If the goal is to make steam, you can just drip regular water onto an aquatuner with a valve, and throttle the temperature in the room with a sensor that shuts off the tuner. It's a very simple setup that's easy to build with steel. If you want to turn pwater into steam, you're better off sieving it first as that gets you more dirt than boiling does. (4% versus whatever you get from boiling, 1%?) And since dirt is very valuable, I would try to maximize it.

He's trying to make use of the heat from Aquatuners that are cooling his base.

Here's the thing, this vaporizing unit is just a part of a big system which I still haven't figured out. Clean water without germ is what I'm after, to feed the electrolyzers, they're pretty thirsty. Heat, or steam is just a by-product, but it's also some kind of a resource I can use. I'm trying to collect heat all around to do something, from all kinds of refinements, batteries or kitchen, to pre-cook the p,water. I just don't want to waste them.

I can simply drip p.water on an aquatuner, but then I have to deal with p.oxygen. So I came up with this design.

In the game, I could get steam before 80 cycles, then use glass forge to activate a steam turbine, without using any vent or magma, which I think it's pretty economical.

But in that pic you can see, I'm not satisfied with the way I cool down the steam using piped hydrogen, that's very slow. Putting batteries in a vacuum room is a good way to collect heat but I haven't came up with any idea to use this.

Ah I see, I can build two groups of batteries, while one group is charging, use the other group to supply electricity, switch by a power shutoff. And I can use doors to push water into vacuum to immerge the idle group, take some heat away. Just a thinking.

I have a question. Efficiency wise, wouldn't it be better to use a triple door vacuum thing to insulate the small tank from the big tank so I doesn't ''bleed'' heat to the big tank while you heat it up to the 123°C?

I know the big tanks water will heat up and turn eventually quicker to steam but this huge amount would take many cycles so I think this way the 4x4 tank would heat up much faster.

Thank you. Yes that's true, triple door set would be better but I really hate to make it any bigger. Since it's too slow either to cook up water or cool down steam, I decide to change the design a little, using it dealing with only germy water out of my loo. Here goes the new blueprint.

  • All kinds of hot stuff (like glass) could be shipped to those storage bins to heat up the airlock below. But adding shipping to this unit would be a delay to use it, as shipping is quite a late mid-game thing. (around 100 cycles maybe?)
  • Steam will be cooled into water by touching those two metal tiles. It takes 1~2 cycles, that's much faster now. As steam exhausted, vacuum will take over. (but you have to make the left room a vacuum chamber first)
  • Water down there is about 97.8°C, we can still use it to heat something like the upper room. Or maybe just delete the heat by giving it to electrolyzer, but deleting heat is a waste in my opinion
  • Upper tank is sealed, so poxygen won't spread all over the place, and it's an infinite tank too with a two-vent design, can storage as much germy water as you wish.

Oh right one more thing, the STEAM/WATER chamber can hold infinite steam and water too, and they have no chance to mix with pwater at all. So it's safe to pump the water whenever you like.

You need doors or airflow tiles for infinite water. Tiles on their own are only good for infinite gas.
