I haven't found a good guide anywhere for how to do a simple setup with a rocket. I have tried building my first rocket but all the automations and new features are confusing me about how to even launch the ship. So far this is what I have for the bare bones setup. I have an astronaut almost ready but I can't understand how to connect the bunker doors with the scanner to close them when a meteor shower comes. Also, I understand if I am unprepared to start a rocket launch but my colony has become fully  sustainable and the next venture is space travel. Would really love feedback or pictures on how to setup a rocket. Thanks again.

This might help a little, take a read.

You should be aware that there is a 9 tile zone below the rocket that will be exposed to high temperatures, when you move to solid thrusters and later petrol and hydrogen, this area will reach about 3000c and probably breaking what ever machinery you have below the rocket.

Here's a calculator also

There are some guides to the automation somewhere, but I don't have them.

This is my bunker door automation, it seems to work fine for over 1000 cycles.  Just a filter and a Not gate (bottom right with atmo sensor in middle).  ignore the not gate on the upper right, that goes to something else.  The left Not gate & filter controls power to my other 5 scanners, when there is a shower, it switches them off.  Be sure to space each scanner at least 13 tiles apart from the other scanners and any machinery, which includes doors ( I think) and solar panels.

The atmo sensor is for if I need to manual use.

this is my asteroid detection network btw, not my rocket silo doors automation.

I have automation for automating the launch bay doors and launching the rockets, but I think it's proably too messy to be helpful for you.

Here is my rocket bay doors automation, each sensor (two right most sensors) is set for one of the rockets and opens them when a rocket is due back.  The top right wire goes to one set of doors, the lower right wire goes to the 2nd set of doors.  The atmo sensors are there so that I can manually open or close the doors.

It is important that once you have 100% network scan strength, to connect your rocket sensors to the network some how, as I have.  If you don't have any automation connecting your asteroid shower scanning to your rocket scanners, then your bay doors will not open in time and you'll break your doors because they opened too late when the rocket lands.

You don't need the rocket sensors to be 13 tiles apart, but they do need to be 13 tiles apart from your asteroid scanning network I believe.

This setup opens the doors when there is a rocket or when there are no showers, but will open the doors when a rocket is due, regardless of whether there is a shower active.
