Electric Generator / Battery / Battery Charger

Recommended Posts

We don`t even need batteries as a physical item. It can be used like a bottle that carries electric charge. It would just require 2 buildings. A charging station that consumes power to charge batteries. The battery would be manually removed by dupes and the chrarging station will consume more power to create a new one. The battery would be delivered to a generator that would produce the power while using up the battery.

To make it consistent carrieable batteries should lose charge slowly similar to their immobile cousins. This would be a really useful way to get a bit of power to distant circuits that can self power but need a "kickstart". Like a far away SPOM wouldn`t need wiring, just gas pipes to your base.

Why not hamster-wheel? I'think it's the best "kickstart".

well batteries require acid... and we have Cl... so HCl (liquid that eats through certain types of tile and materials might be an interesting mechanical addition)... and overloaded batteries could offgas Cl? (its probably not real world workable, but ONI science this sounds quite cool to me :) )

I guess. Kinda hard to make carriable batteries better. Maybe if they took less space. Additional advantage would be not needing the dupe to be phsysically there for longer than it requires to deliver the battery.

If it's a sortable/stackable item - then the ore loader could handle deliveries for systems in need.

This come off as more or less like an item that gets made, used, then disappears. Like a food item, but instead, it has charge.

Delivering battery via an ore-loader, that uses metal rails and is connected to the power network... This is kinda weird.
