ChickenMadness
I do really despise the user interface for the priorities menu in particular (Job menu is close in second place). Once you have more than 10 duplicants (and I always play with 20+) it's SO difficult to organise them and see what jobs everyone is doing (Especially when you're cross training dupes to master all the jobs) It would be massively less confusing if they just put a microsoft excell spreadsheet instead of the UI they have now. None of the different ways to order the lists of duplicants are useful. I have actually considered playing with a excell spreadsheet open on my second monitor and manually typing in all of my duplicant information so that I can see what jobs and skills my duplicants have and save myself a lot of time and confusion. You have no chance of finding this information in the priorities and jobs menus. You hover over one duplicant to try and remember what their skills are, scroll around searching for a second duplicant and try to remember what they're doing... and I've already forgotten the name of the first duplicant..... And then if you want to find out what jobs a duplicant is qualified in, this isn't listed when hovering over a dupe, so you have to hover over the job in the job menu instead, look through the list of duplicant names in extremely tiny font and repeat 20-50 times for every other piece of information you want to find out. I have a bad memory so this is impossible for me to do. I actually build my base in a way that splits my duplicants up so that I can see easily the information that is impossible to find using the Job and priority menus.... I will put all of my ranchers in one bedroom. All of my farmers in another bedroom. and so on. And when I have to mess around with priorities I will hover over the beds to see the name of the duplicant. Then search for that duplicant in the priority and job menus.... That's how useless the UI is. TL;DR A microsoft excell spreadsheet would be x10000 times better than the current priority, job and scheduling menus. Atleast until you can come up with more a more user friendly set of menus. Ozcuraz
For job screen I would like to see some improvement as well. It is hard to remember who already mastered what as time gone by. For example, when hovering over a dupe's name on job screen all jobs that he/she has already mastered will be highlighted so we are able to notice which remaining jobs he/she should switch to rather than blindly assign him/her and see that he/she already mastered it. When you are about to assign a job to a dupe, there is a tiny marker in front of the job name that indicates if they have completed the job in question. When you use the drop down menu directly from the job, all dupes that completed that have the same marker in front of their name on the drop down list. Sasza22
The priority tab at least shows relevant skills for dupes (a dupe with +4 in cooking will have a pink square in the cook priority). But it definetly needs to show if a dupe has relevant traits like farming or ranching. I`m sometimes having trouble with 15 dupes, i can`t imagine what would happen with 40+. I guess i would have to add some info to the dupe name so i don`t get lost. For the jobs tab i mainly look at the dupe expectations and assign their jobs below them if there are any left. If not i have to move them to a different schedule and alter their food preferences (those 2 should definetly be merged somehow). Eleyvie
Priority system is a cryptic mess. When you hover the mouse over priority column titles, they list their associated tasks. And apparently "Deliver" task is governed by *six* different priority groups. So how do I know which is which? Should use common sense, right? Wrong. Actual (as in, game tested) relations between priorities and tasks make absolutely no sense. Why is delivery to ration box a "Supply" task and not a "Storage" one? Why material delivery to wall construction is affected by Supply priority? Sure, Build priority works as intended here, but why do dupes with prioritized Supply run across the entire asteroid to deliver material to a constructed wall, causing my builders to abandon the construction and run in the opposite direction to a lesser priority build job since this one has been occupied by suppliers? Why does everyone except my farmers plant seeds and supply dirt/water to my farms? I would expect that my farmers having Farming prioritized, and the rest having it de-prioritized would work. Nope, it doesn't. Why are my miners distracted by supplying dirt to research station and food to ration box even though priorities are set to average and actual job priorities are identical? Does Supply job has a higher "hidden" priority than digging? In this case, why it's column is to the right? I would expect that "all things being equal", priority groups to the left are executed first. Apparently that's not the case and actual last tier priority resolution doesn't match priority column allocation on the screen. DesktopMan
Job window could allow plotting career paths for dupes. That way you wouldn't need to micro as much.
