Hamster wheel powered base? - Hamster Wheel Power plant?

Recommended Posts

Anyone managed to build big bases powered only by hamster wheels?

About to challenge myself to see if it can be done. I have a 20 duplicant base atm.

My bases usually aren't very power hungry so I think it is possible when you have large numbers of dupes idling all the time.

Edit:
There is a problem which I haven't worked out how to get around.

edit 2: Someone has posted a solution now.

Does anyone  know if there is a way to have this kind of big hamster wheel room connected to the main power supply without using heavy watt wire?

The issue is that I want to avoid power overload damaging wires.
But also heavy watt wires give huge negative decor debuffs.

I'm not sure of how transformers would be used when used in the opposite 'direction' of sending power to the main power line. It's confusing.

Example screenshot:
Very basic hamster wheel room I have for idle dupes right now.

Screnshot of base for context.

The coal and nat gas generators are going to be deconstructed soon. not relevant.

But I have this heavy watt wire circuit outside of my base (the main power line). Not sure how to attach the hamster wheel rooms to it with regards to the problems I just mentioned basically.

In theory, one could build a "hamster cage", and link the door to a smar battery. The door opens if the power stored gets low. And the wheels are on high-priorty. If the power is good again, dupes can exit through a second exit-only-door. That way, dupes would only generate power when needed, and not when they want to run the wheel.

I'll fiddle around with your idea in my base thanks.

So preferably the 2kw wire needs to be used.

Decor is capped at +120, so my upper room is max decor without even finishing the art ...

(Everything using heavy watt wire ^^)

I use a high priority for the operate job on all duplicants and disable my generators depending on my battery levels

I may do this, but I like to put a limit on myself to keep all wires, pipes and anything with negative decor out of sight as a 'roleplay' rule. Especially if it's inside the main base where duplicants live. And then outside of the main base I let myself do whatever with the piping / wires. I'm planning on building a 'gymnasium' in the living area of my base and to make it look pretty lol (as well as being a practical power plant).

I think they over buffed decor this patch as well. I'm sure it's going to be 'nerfed' again in the future since it's too easy to get max decor right now.
