better loot behind cracked walls?

Recommended Posts

now that cracked rooms within the ruins requires explosives it very much lost it's incentive to get through.

the current possible loot is: 30 red gems, 20 blue gems, 10 of each regular relic piece, thulecite suit, thulecite crown, thulecite bat, pick/axe, lazy explorer, darksword. that's the total amount of loot randomly hidden behind some cracked walls inside of any ruins.

now of course there is also a room for the rare relics, the aporkalypse clock on the 5th island and possibly that mant translation stone now is behind a cracked wall as well

is it just me or does this loot that's randomly hidden on the ruins displays feel kinda too underwhelming to make myself go through the trouble of acquiring gunpowder(pain to make) or buy a coconade(potentially a waste of oincs).

yes, i admit that i was never hugely into ruins loot at all. i prefer regular cane over lazy explorer, darksword over thule bat and more easily accessible armor over ruins gear that only provides 10% more protection than a logsuit or pighat. the sanity aura of the thule suit might be a reason to use it but for armor i rather use something accessible, especially in don't starve because unlike in together armor protection stacks.

imho we need something better behind those walls because how many gems does the player possibly need?all i need is one of each for either smelter or sprinkler and for purple gems i've heard that there's a well which easily renews those? let's hope the well keeps it's functionality to make it possible to telelocate ourself to the 5th island or any desired island tbh

the relics maybe compensate the player for the 20 oincs investment on a coconade but i guess it's more a loss than a rewarding experience especially when a cracked wall doesn't have a room behind itself.

what i would like to see is maybe the magiluminesence amulet or construction amulet which could help the player out with building their own pig city. also what if the displays get filled up with thulecite and have a science station hidden behind some wall to allow the player to craft whatever they desire on ruins loot.

replace the lazy explorer with a regular cane and let people craft the lazy explorer themself if they happen to loot a orange gem somewhere (i have seen them in pots before). this could also allow us to make the houndius shootius if the store on the 2nd city will sell us deerclops eyeballs and ancient guardian horns.

I feel like you're asking for a bit much.

Gems are practically essentials, as you need a sprinkler if you wish to make it through the Lush season, if gems aren't wildly spread, there is no accounting that the player will get them in time.
Their increased drop rate is a saving graze, as they're too rare to count on in Smashable pots.

If you want the Ruins items, I recommend going back to the covenant and gathering them yourselves.
Similar to how Shipwrecked had it's own fixed crafting table, I am sure Hamlet will have it's own.

Gems are as good as Relics, since you can sell them to the banker for 10 oincs apiece—in fact, they’re better because they stack, taking up only one inventory slot.

A lazy explorer is one of the very best thing to have in Hamlet if, like me, you have a map where the edge of one island is visible from the other! I really hope I get one instead of a pointless dark sword. With the lazy explorer I could poof from one pig city to the other without having to go through the jungle or the ruins, saving a huge amount of time and hassle. Plus, the Roc Island is right next to the Herald Island, which is where my base is, so all I’d have to do to get home quickly after, say, a pugalisk fight is to blow the bird whistle and then poof on home. Without it, I have to go through a ruin to the first island, then back through the poison biome to get through a second ruin.

Speaking of the pugalisk, think about the fact that it often stops moving around for several seconds. That makes the thulecite club a great weapon to use on it because when the club spawns shadow tentacles, they will continue to do damage to the boss while you’re running away from its freeze ray.

The problem is not that the loot in the rooms is bad (except for the dark sword), but rather that you haven’t really considered the advantages of these items and how they might be used.
