N00bieMeap
why should I use 6 scanner instead of 1? Is it for the rocket automation or for power free bunker door? impyre
Using more scanners accomplishes two things: 1) It narrows the time window, giving you more certainty as to when the meteors arrive. 2) It decreases the maximum warning time. Both of these help reduce the total amount of time you spend under meteor lockdown, making your system more friendly. With a single scanner you spend a lot of unnecessary time locked down. The only downside I can think of is that if you don't power your doors but you build a 6-scanner system you *might* have a problem where the meteor shower is detected too late for the doors to close... but don't quote me on that because I'm not 100% sure. Gurgel
A single scanner may detect a meteor-shower in time, but it has a large random component and often will not. Bunker doors need something like 40s to close, so you want enough scanners to assure they detect meteor showers at least 40 seconds before. At that point it is actually beneficial not to have more, as the doors will stay open longer (on average) for generating solar power. Actually, if you have enough to get 100% detection, it removes the random factor completely. Then you can close them exactly when needed, every time (except that the animation bug means you actually can't since they close at whatever speed they feel like depending on what you're looking at). Lilalaunekuh
If we assume there are no bugs considering bunker doors closing slower offscreen: 19% network quality is the goal to close powered bunker doors (Can be realized with a partially obstructed 2 scanner network, but a pulsed 6 scanner network can do it with less power consumption) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/100890-a-little-question/#findComment-1135209 Share on other sites
