Finally we’re catching up to the Iron age

Recommended Posts

Quote Borrowed from our friend Maxwell...

I am big fan of the items we've gotten from Hamlet, tools to gather resources more effectively, Durable Armor and less Durable weapons...
But I know there is more uses to Metal than the current six recipes available(and seven recipes for Iron Ore), Total, they're about 13 recipes made from Metal, Obsidian that was the unique resource of Shipwrecked, which has eleven recipes. Although being more of a magical element with more of an offensive use, this is understandable.
Alloy and Iron Ore however has more practical use, so how about some more practical recipes?

  1. Iron Pick-axe and Shovel. High durability and will last longer than both their flint and Opulent/Regal variants. The shovel having a Max amount of uses. Meanwhile the Iron Pick-axe has less uses, it's strikes are twice as effective when it comes to mining(similar to Obsidian Axe/Machete),  but High durability should be the main focus of these tools. Heck maybe they could even be expensive to make to justify this?.
  2. Metal Alchemy Engine. A simple machine that has the same function as the Alchemy Engine, the only difference is that it's smaller and require less resources to make, by using Alloy instead of expensive refined items. It would be for a base that's meant to set up quickly. It's more of a practical solution for a second base, which you may not always need a Alchemy Engine on. It would be cheaper to make, it would however also require a Alchemy Engine to craft for the first time, so building one originally is still needed.
  3. A weapon. We all know the Halberd, yet it's damage output is less than a Tentacle Spike, while stilling having the same amount of uses. It''s fairly cheap to make, but when it comes to damage and uses it is put to shame by the Cutlass Supreme. Something new is all I ask, something with an extra sing.

What do you guys think? Is this something you'd make if it excited in-game?
What more uses do You think Alloy could have?

Alright just got an idea for a forth item:

4. Iron Oven: a combination of the fire pit and the crock pot. It can only be placed in the player house, but allows both to generate heat, light and food. It allows the player to cook raw food like a fire pit, but there is also a pot at the top where you can place food items and cook them like a crock pot. During winter it will also provide heat to warm the player.

4. How about a Chainsaw? Something that chops trees just as fast as the Obsidian Axe. It would not have durability but rather run on fuel like the Miner's Hat or Lantern. It's fuel source should be something cute, like in order to obtain the fuel, you need to kill an innocent creature or destroy it's home, meaning if you harvest too much fuel, there is an increasing chance Krampus Spawn.
Or maybe each use of the chainsaw has a chance to Spawn Krampus? Meaning you can quickly loose the logs you've yet to harvest.

What do you guys think?
