Sweepers are pointless if dupes prevent them from working

The sweeper here should be handling this task. That's why it's there. Instead, dupes are running 70C dirt from clear across the map, and trying to cook the plants.

If a sweeper can accomplish a task a dupe wanted to work on, the sweeper should just do it. They should have priority on any tasks within their range, otherwise there's not much point to using them anywhere a dupe can get to.

Steps to Reproduce
Try to use a sweeper anywhere dupes have access to.

The only solution i find is to prevent dupe access to the area

Not always an option. Farms are the perfect example. Yes, they do drop the fruits after a while, an you can fully automate them. The problem is, if they need water, and you dont have tons of excess, they consume and consume, while not growing beyond 100%, until they drop the fruit. Its just a waste of ressources.

The best solution indeed would be, the sweepers would gain a higher priority, so dupes wont be assigned to the job, if a sweeper can do it.

@Brook Glad to hear it, and thank you for the response. P.S.-The plant there was actually my own foolishness, bad sweeper placement. But the problem does still happen with valid targets often enough to be a problem(I had to lock up all my dirt!).

I have the same issue. I have a pressurized room for oxylite production. When oxylite is being produced and dropped on the ground, the auto-sweeper doesn't act fast enough to pick it up and put it into a storage, but lets dupe to do it instead.

I do this to, my workaround is to use a smart storage that opens a pressure door once it is full (and you can set the amount of storage capacity by yourself). The pressure door is closed by automation when the oxylite refinery is activated (via signal switch or timer and a memory gate). If you want to open the door earlier, just change the storage capacity of the smart storage).

P.S. The oxylite refinery can produce something around 1400kg of oxylite with a full charge of gold.

I just lock the room until I need to use oxylite
