Jet Suit Dock: liquid input category is wrong

Xiphoris
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Known Issue

The Jet Suit Dock takes liquid petroleum as input.

Expected: I expect this building's liquid intake to appear as a white "Building Intake" pipe sink in the liquid overview.

Actual: However, for some reason it appears as an orange "Filtered Output Pipe" source.

The building still works fine otherwise.

Proposed Fix: Change the building liquid input to appear as a white "Building Intake" liquid sink, similar to other buildings that consume liquid.

If there's some particular reason that it's orange or looking like a "Filtered Output Pipe", that's not clear to me; maybe document the rationale.

Steps to Reproduce
Just build any Jet Suit dock.

User Feedback

The icon is not identical. The arrow is pointing inwards, not outwards.

Trivia: It has this color because all secondary connections are orange. The primary input here is the oxygen pipe. This also means all buildings are limited to 2 inputs and 2 outputs, while most actually only use a max of one input and one output. The exception obviously is the pipe filters, which is why the caption is "Filtered Output Pipe".

The actual bug report should be that this new icon does not show up in the caption. Also the color makes it easy to mix up.

The only problem here is, the port is orange. But the symbol is clear as ice. As you can see, the arrow points away from the port if its a filtered port. But on the dock, it points to the port, and so its an intake.

Yes the color may be a bad choice, because it matches the color of a filtered port, but thats it.

Any chance this bug is ever going to get fixed?  It certainly should show as an input, not a filtered output.

If you compare the arrow direction you will notice it shows towards the box. It's a symbol for secondary input. It's just missing in the legend. It's not an output symbol, people just easily mix them up because of the color.

Honestly the whole input/output thing needs a rework. It's really awkward to work with from a modding perspective. It should be possible to have more than 2 inputs/outputs and these should be easily labeled (which in turn fixes this symbol issue).
