Automation or power shutoffs cause pokeshell aggro and prevent grooming

I started trying to ranch pokeshells.  There was only one natural pokeshell on the planet and it had laid an egg that hatched, so since there were no other eggs, I sent in a dupe to wrangle the young one while the old one wouldn't attack.  It was delivered to the ranch but every time a dupe went to go groom it, he would whistle for it to come, it might get there and just start grooming, then suddenly the dupe would run away "to a safer place".

I normally like to make double use of ranches by placing power equipment in them, and in this case, I had a transformer flipper.  As near as I can tell, every time the power shutoffs toggled it would make the pokeshell aggro for a single frame, causing the dupe to run away.  Since they toggled every second or two he could never groom the critter.  There were no eggs in the room and the dupe was never attacked and the pokeshell said it was idle.  The running away always seemed to coincide with the shutoffs toggling.  After relocating the pokeshell to a room without any power gear he was able to groom the critter just fine.

Steps to Reproduce

Have a smart battery cause power shutoffs to flip while attempting to groom a pokeshell in the same room.

Do you have a save file of that build? Or even a screenshot of your build? I've never seen pokeshell getting angry by anything other than an egg in their room

Each time the power shutoffs flipped, the room was probably rebuilt for some reason, which for a few milliseconds will make it an invalid ranch and cancel the grooming errand. In the past, just flipping shutoffs should not have triggered a room rebuild, but the recent room changes have caused room rebuilds to occur much more frequently.

You may benefit from the Fast Track mod, which has a different, much faster room rebuilding algorithm that can avoid many unnecessary rebuilds.

The pokeshell never actually appeard to be angry, but the dupe ran away and his status had the text about going somewhere safe that you get when they are attacked by an angry pokeshell, but they never got attacked.  I don't have a screenshot handy ( I'm at work now ), but the equipment was a standard transformer-flipper: two smart batteries with power shutoffs above them so that one battery is always tied to the pair of transformers to export power to the main backbone, and the other is tied to the backbone to charge, then they swap.

I don't think that's it.  The grooming station never says it isn't in the right room, and the dupe doesn't just stop grooming but runs away ( I confined him to the room and he still runs as far from the station as he can ) and has the status text about going somewhere safe like they were attacked by the pokeshell.  Also I have not had any problems grooming hatches in ranches with transformer flippers.  This is unique to the pokeshell.

Here's the screen shots.

You have.. automation on the grooming station?

I think that would stop it from working every time the battery is full, right?

Edit: My guess is the dupe stops grooming when the grooming station is disabled by automation. The "going somewhere safe" the dupe shows, doesn't necessarily mean "fleeing". There is an alert notification connected to fleeing. The dupe probably doesn't have anything else to do or wears an atmo suit so the "somewhere safe" is before the checkpoint

Disabling the grooming station by using automation would be "works as intended", right?

Oh wow, when did they add an automation port to the grooming station?  LOL.

Still I wonder about the going somewhere safe message since they weren't in an atmo suit and the room is filled with oxygen.

The automation port was there from the very beginning when the grooming station was added to the game in the spring of 18.

Wow. I never would have thought to automate the grooming station.
