ride-able beefalo

Recommended Posts

I think you should be able to tame and ride a beefalo by feeding it 20 - 40 cut grass ( after it gets to have eaten 20 grass there will be a 2% chance it will be tamed but as you feed it the changes will get better). After it is tamed if you are holding grass it will follow you. to ride it you must make a saddle out of tentacle spots (they will act like leather) and from rope (it will tie it all together). You will need to feed it 5 cut grass every day but if you forget to feed it for 2 days it will leave you no matter what, even if it has the saddle on in ( in that case you will have to kill it to get the saddle back). you will be able to control it by the exact same way as you control your player except it will go much faster and it will be able to be used as an aid in combat to attack anything while your on its back.

omg buff pls i hat 2% omg noob steal all gass and siet pls buff

Wat? Oh wait, I can correct if anyone doesn't understand;

Oh my god please I hate 2%. Oh my god noob, steal all that grass and stuff, please buff!

By the way, I like this idea, just less grass, like a WHOLE STACK of grass for ONE beefalo??? I agree it needs a buff.

As you may have guessed, this has been suggested before. Feeding the beefalo to tame it was one possible solution proposed by forum members. The more popular one, or maybe just the one I prefer, involves using grass and the beefalo hat (i.e. pretend to be a beefalo) to lure a baby beefalo away from its herd. Then you "collar" it, during which it makes a fuss and calls in any nearby adult beefalo (hence the reason you needed to lure it away). From then on you need to feed the baby beefalo until it matures into an adult beefalo. From there you can craft a saddle and ride it.

...by feeding it 20 - 40 cut grass ( after it gets to have eaten 20 grass there will be a 2% chance it will be tamed but as you feed it the changes will get better).

That's certainly one option.

After it is tamed if you are holding grass it will follow you. to ride it you must make a saddle out of tentacle spots (they will act like leather) and from rope (it will tie it all together).

Hmmm, I thought pig butts were "leather"? I'm fine with equipping grass to have it follow you. The only other suggestion that was made was to have a new craftable item added, namely: grass + rope + stick. And every time the beefalo nibbles on it the "hay stick" loses durability.

Yup. This was suggested, that, or it dies on you. Of course the "death" suggestion was connected to corpses not unspawning right away, but lying around for a few days until either the player cleaned it up or scavengers ate it.On a related note, I also suggested that as part of the grand "cycle of life" beefalo should need to eat grass (i.e. deplete grass tufts), whether tamed or wild. Thus the player would compete with the beefalo for grass resources.
