QoL thinking

Recommended Posts

Well, I have seen the new upgrade and I like it. It's still missing some frequently requested stuff.

1. Coloured building blocks so we know what are they made of without pointing coursors at them.

2. Colouring options of wires and plumbing at their displays.

3. Room dupe detector automation thingie - so it will automatically switch on/off lights without the use of onnoying pressure blocks!

4. Radiant liquid pipes should be pressure-proof - this means that water in them shoud stay liquid in temperatures above 100C, like it would really do because of the high pressure (the higher the pressure, the higher evaporation point, try putting a plastic water bottle in 200C and see wat happens, just stay away, so it won't melt away your eyeballs if it goes off). It would make building proper, lava-powered powerplants so much more fun!

5. Please, make gases indicated nicely on the gasous display. The pre-alpha version used to be better than today's one.

6. Fumaroles are as ugly as the have been since Ranching Upgrade and they trigger my trypophobia. Please give them a graphicall overhaul, they deserve that li fish deserve water and pets deserve love and care.

7. Automation needs NAND gates, so I don;t have to use both NOT and AND. It also needs a slope-driven, resetable, 8-bit counter thingie (data input for counting 1s sequent after 0s, reset and 8 binary outputs). And a JK flip-flop. I can't make my ring counter driven contraptions like a civilised man withut them and SR flip-flops are just not the same. And some other use for a supercomputer too, like logical input based on if programming, dependent on net power/oxygen/calories usage, I need that bad.

8. Where are pies? Dupes geting no pie for their birthday should get depressed.

Logic gates are turing complete, which is the case with just the NOT gate as connecting inputs with a wire is OR.

You can easily make what you want with a bit of clever logic, making a pulse from an edge is just a case of an AND and a NOT on one input, plus a delay.

I can do that, I can also compose it of D-latch-flip-flops and a combinatory cirquit. It's just space consuming. And with fixed delays I can not get that fancy control of the loop frequency, as with nice ring ones, that I usually do (IRL) with those sweet 74HC4017 chips.
