StarSquid
Algae and other microbes have a lot of potential for space applications in real life, but become obsolete quite rapidly intake. Therefore, I propose five new buildings. Photobioreactor: breeds Algae. Unfortunately not too sanitary. Consumes algae, carbon dioxide, polluted water, and power. Produces algae, slime, and water. Supercritical Water Oxidizer: purifies water, destroys things. 3 tiles tall, 2 tiles wide. Turns polluted water and any compostable resources into water, CO2, sand, and a smidgen of fertilizer. Yeast Bioreactor: consumes polluted dirt and some power. Produces yeast which can be used in the microbe musher and as an ingredient in the grill, as well as some normal dirt. Chemobioreactor: consumes hydrogen and carbon dioxide to produce Nutrient Powder, usable in the microbe musher to produce nutrient bars or in the grill as an additive to bread to produce lower quality, higher nutrition versions. Shmeat Bioreactor: very late-game bioreactor, uses Nutrient Powder, water, and electricity to produce meat at a high efficiency but a slow speed. xenoborg
Theres too many useless food items already that no one makes, theres really no reason to add more to the list, If you start your muckroot farm asap, you could get away with never touching the microbe musher. How about just a bio produced hydrogen machine, converts polluted water into hydrogen at a much better rate than the electrolyzer, at the cost of zero oxygen production. https://www.energy.gov/eere/fuelcells/hydrogen-production-microbial-biomass-conversion Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/98683-bioreactors/#findComment-1115452 Share on other sites
StarSquid
Okay, but there’s a constant problem of running out of dirt. These would not have that problem and could be used to support actual farming. If a player is stuck with something and finds no resort to get out of the problematic situation, more variety of buildings can help to get out of the deadend. It would also be nice to have a wheatbeer reactor. Sasza22
Not sure about the food items but i lke the idea of making more algae in a bioreactor. Maybe also add a centrifuge building that could extract dirt out of algae and slime. babba
For me Critters take too much cpu load, I spend that cpu time on other things. I really like the bio reactor ideas from Starsquid. My opinion. Happy ONI Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/98683-bioreactors/#findComment-1116050 Share on other sites
