babba
Not every order in ONI needs to be or can to be executed instantly, this idea would also require two dupes to make the automation action work. Remember the old dial phones, tktktktkt tkktktktring ring ? Why not have dial phones and buildable phone lines in the game, which make it necessary that one dupe each is on both ends in order to execute the action...Receiving an order via telephone line ? This could be used in combo with rocket start countdowns, dupes entering or leaving radioactive radiated areas or whatever else. tktkkkttk ring ring. Dupe goes to ringing dial phone and picks up the receiver "Hello. Can you open the heavy lead door? Ive done the job". "Ok sure, I`ll open the door" ( The dupe at the receiving end behaves like this automatically as the connected automation dosimeter for radioactivity is green ). Of course the whole idea would need to be properly worked out and designed, but it would combine the social sim faction with the tech guys ( phone, automation, phone lines ) In dupe world its sufficient to just have them talking over the phone as "Wahaha wa waaa wwawawww", as in the animated shorts. The idea of having two dupes at the same time, interacting with each other could also work with lots of other things. Either sitting together, or using the phone line idea. This would work great in combo with automation.
Sasza22
It would be fun if you could make monitors allowing dupes to chitchat from different places. Especially if a dupe is doing work alone in a far place.
yoakenashi
I have only one thing to say about this idea: Meep, take a moment and go and call your pod. She took 3 long cycles to print you, the least you could do is call her!
