Automated meat production.

The logic circuit at top right (the delay gate is set to 1 second, the buffer gate is set to 2 seconds) produces an active pulse lasting long enough for the top auto-sweeper to pick up and drop an egg from the top conveyor receptacle.

The active pulse lasts 2 seconds, causing the auto-sweeper to drop the egg before delivering to the storage compactor at top left, the egg then falls into the water pit, out of range of the top auto-sweeper. 20 cycles later the egg hatches and the critter drowns and becomes meat.

The lower auto sweeper removes the meat and eggshells.

Your duplicants only need to work the grooming station. 96 Tile room, 8 hatches.

Note that there is an open pneumatic door just under the top auto-sweeper which separates the water pit from the ranch room. This prevents the hatches from getting the cluttered debuff from the eggs and losing reproduction bonus.

How do you replenish the egg-layers numbers from natural death by aging? It's not fully automated if there isn't some method for incubating replacements player interaction.

Mostly automated then.

You are correct, this would require wrangling hatches in order to replace the ones lost to aging.

You could set up a water clock from @Saturnus's thread here, that would count 12.5 cycles (100 cycle lifespan / 8 critters) and ship a single egg to a spot on a mechanized door above the ranch. Have the mech door open every cycle to drop freshly hatched critters, and viola, automated critter replacement.

IT seems like the eggs are incubated in the breeding room. Your hatches Will likely produce very little meat.

Maybe setup the kill & eggdrop room outside.
