Dups are slower?

Recommended Posts

In this update dups seem do everything more slower.
Playing in the same way off past update and everything is way slower

an exemple of a dup mining, past update they equip the miner tool and keep mining without unequip.
in this att> (speed 3)
obs. miner with 31 dig and 12 athletics (in exo)

At later cycles, the game can lag because of the amount of stuff going on.  I would avoid playing on 3x speed in the late game.  Especially if you have lots of dupes.  Basically, your CPU can't handle 3x speed because it has to do all the calculations for a second of game time in 1/3 of a second (or something like that), and it doesn't get to it all.  So some of the dupes stand around because they haven't had their turn on the CPU.  This is one of the most computationally complex games I have ever played because of all the physical calculations that have to go in to it.

Issues like this should be resolved in the future, as they say they are going to work on performance now.  Especially if they implement multithreaded.  Especially since this is the sort of problem that is designed to be parallelizable.

What cycle are you on?  How many dupes do you have?

I believe if you have single-purpose storage compactors and keep the floors clean, that also helps by reducing the computational load.

What you're seeing is a change from the Occupational Upgrade. Certain types of materials such as granite and abyssalite require specialties/professions and a skill associated with them to be able to dig them.

You can see this clearly in the first .gif you posted, when Miner#001 digs abyssalite with a red beam, but phosphorite and igneous rock with a yellow beam. This is because those hard and extra hard materials require mining profession tier 1 and 2, respectively, indicated by the diamond shape(s) by the dig sign.

It's a tiny bit slower than in older versions, but each profession gives bonuses to the relevant skill, which more than makes up for this.

I don't think that's the issue and I noticed the same thing as OP.  The issue isn't the dig speed, it's the delay between each dig.  In the previous builds the dupes would go smoothly from one tile to the next without hesitation but something changed.

that's what i noticed, its like they are thinking of what tile they will dig **Dig Slime** "Hmmm what's next?"
