ruhrohraggy
I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I'm gonna pipe up as well, as I did a quick search and found nothing on the topic. Is there a reason the current progress / state of Buffer and Filter gate(s) is not saved? Or reset during a load? Is this simply not an implemented feature? or are there design / coding limitations which make this impossible? From a very helpful response to my frustration in the general forums, it seems as though there are others who are already aware / affected by this issue, and have resorted to designing mechanical analogs to hold signal through a save / load. Currently, any critical system relying on a buffer or filter gate with specific timings is doomed if you happen to save at the wrong time, or rely on an auto-save that occurred with the gate mid-progress... I suppose if we use an automation system that employs crucial gates like this, it might be on us to be aware of this, and plan our saves accordingly, but that seems a little unfair, I think. Would it be possible to consider allowing the progress bar of filter and buffer gates to be saved along with an auto or manual save-game? The only topic on the matter of buffer/filter gates and their behavior that I could scrounge through extensive searches, was this from a long time ago though in the bugs section (not related to my post though)...but I get the feeling from the response, that automation gates aren't very high on the priority list...So I guess i won't get my hopes up... SharraShimada
Automation, as useful as it is, is currently just rudimentary implemented. In my oppinion, there should be a major overhaul, implementing more complex gates (to prevent huge contraptions) and also adress some issues, like yours, and that automations can very well crash (or just slow down) the game.
