avc15
There's something to be said for just stopping somewhere when it comes to making game physics realistic. We also don't have proper convection which I'd argue causes at least as much strangeness. Or partial pressures (mixed gases). Game physics is just a set of rules, it only has to work. There's a lot of effort in adding a new layer to physics, like radiation. And the game has to stop becoming more complex at some point. It needs to be playable for new players. babba
"...It needs to be playable for new players." +1 Best is: I play on easy settings, having played something like 20000 cycles with multiple maps. Its such a great simulation fun game. If resource trading would be available within the first 30 minutes of the game, I would instantly play with normal settings and without debug. smithdl
I agree with no new game mechanics. The heat transfer isn’t my issue either, my issue is how space deals with heat and how the surface of the asteroid is boiling. I don’t want to introduce a new game mechanic and I’ve changed my mind in this one too. I use to think it was broken and I hated it. Really I just want space to be a heat sink in the night and a heater in the day. I think that could really add some cool playability. The biggest issue with heat movement in this game is actually not have a cost of vaporization. That’s why HVAC doesn’t work in this game right, because it doesn’t account for how much energy a gas absorbs when it leaves a liquid state and how much energy a liquid releases when it is compressed back from a gas. They should hide this absence in a building in my opinion that just does it automatically.
