Demetrio3000
Hi, I own a game for a few months now and played it for a few hundreds hours as well, enjoy the survival mode and use the sandbox for construction tests. I noticed reading forum posts here and on Steam, that the Steam Power Generator is actually pretty horrible, because of the steam temperature requirement. I tried a lot of setups this, and even with a volcano, it is no longer a "Renewable" source of power, since heat will eventually run out, and pretty fast tbh, even on Abyssalite setups. My question is for the Dev teams, and pretty simple tbh, are u guys planning on changing the Temp requirement or even making this power generator more simple to use? Or you will change other generators like creating sulfur and other problems for the other generators instead of making the Steam one more pratical to use? ty for your attention! BlueLance
The devs will not reply to this so all we can do is guess. As for the builds the only legit way to use one "Permanently" is to be able to supply a heat source that can raise the temperature to equal that lost when it goes through the machine. For instance I Usually have two turbines which only run when my bases total energy hits 10%, so I do not use a lot of the heat energy that is available. But each steam generator reduces the heat which is heat lost, so the more insulated my build is the less heat is wasted. Unfortunately since I run my builds for short periods I am not fussed about the heat wastage. Example being I condense my steam after it has passed through two steam turbines, that water is then pumped back into the heating chamber and evaporates again repeating the cycle. All of my heat wastage at that point is from my aquatuner since I use an external build for it all the heat it removes from the turbine build is "Wasted" If the heat wasted from that was put back into the system it would extend the energy use from the volcano. I'm just not good enough to do the complex things like that Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/95914-steam-power-generators/#findComment-1088248 Share on other sites
yoakenashi
In my opinion, steam generators are okay the way they are. I’d like to see them with fewer exploits, but generally the temperature requirement is a great challenge for players. I can get a generator to run 100% uptime, only using the “block 4 out of 5 input squares” trick. I’m not exactly sure what that does though XD. Rainbowdesign
I made the solution: Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/95914-steam-power-generators/#findComment-1089335 Share on other sites
JukedByLife
Think of a turbine as a cooling device that outputs power instead of using it.
