I've done the math, it's a stupid way of getting dirt for mealwood, and looking at rest of your reply I'm confused why would you suggest these ways.

Folks are getting hung up on one persons definition of a sufficiently developed colony. One that most of us wouldn't agree with. There are plenty of ways to get dirt. But sustainably farming Mealwood for dupes is just way more work than better sources of kcals.

I do have a mealwood farm, but a small one for Drekos.

I usually repurpose my starting mealwood farm into a drecko ranch. When i build it first now i always think of dreckos living there in the future so i make sure i make enough room for a grooming and sheering station.
