Alex_D
The only reliable way I know of is: Create a closet and inside store the suits. Send manually the dupe inside. Set the door permission to allow entry but not exit. Once the dupe has put the suit on, then restore the door permissions.

Miravlix
After some testing lately, the issue seems to be one of the dupe entering a state where he forget about equipping the suit, even if you trap them with nothing to do next to a suit. Using unequip suit on the dupe and then assigning it seems to work every time. The best way seems to be create the dupe trap with a suit in it, trap the dupe, then assign the suit. Do not play with it too often, they can forget some thing.
martosss
Here's another way that I've found works: There is a suit in location A. Send our favorite Meep to location A. open priorities tab(J) and forbid all jobs for Meep - put X-s everywhere only for Meep. When Meep arrives at A, he will look around for a second, possibly fart some Natural gas, possibly fall asleep if it's night time (you can force him not to sleep by assigning him to a bed => unassigning him, so he doesn't have a bed => moving him to a location, so he's not sleeping), and then he will equip the suit! (Warning: this might not work if Meep is suffocating - then he'll probably go to safety first) Revert priorities for Meep at their previous state and he wil return to his normal duties. The disadvantage(-) is that you need to reset and set priorities for the dupe in question. That is a problem if you want to equip 50 suits every day. The advantage(+) is that you can have the suit sitting anywhere and the dupe will go there and equip it, meaning less time lost in transporting the suit and the dupe to a particular "changing room" location.
