Asking for general advice

Also, are you sure the water usage is the same even if you use the farming station? Unless something has changed, I thought farmers touch caused blossoms to grow twice as fast with no change in water consumption

Exaclty, that why water per kcal halves, making it 30g per kcal (same as liceloaf)

t takes 1200 kCal of edible meal lice to produce 1700 kCal of liceloaf, which (assuming you're already growing lice, which... well, duh) means you're actually using 50 kG of water to make 500 kCal of food. From that perspective liceloaf costs 100 g/kCal, or nearly twice as much as gristle berry

By your way of calculating i could say: It takes1600kcal edible brisstle bery to produce 2000kcal of gristle berry wchich (assuming you're already growing berry, which... well, duh), means you are actually using 0 water to make 400kcal of food. From that perspective gristle berry cost 0 g/kcal or nearly 100% less than liceloaf

Isn´t the effect of "Farmer´s Touch" to speed up plant growth

=> This reduce the amount of plants needed to feed a set number of duplicants.

Yes that is what it does, so essentially it halves the amount of water and plant food it needs. But that is only if the plant had 100 up time of farmers touch, if you only had an up time of 50% then you are not going to get the full benefit, but still better than none.

Yeah...  I need to stop doing complicated things at 5 am >.>

early on 6 is only needed really, and then i like to increase to 16 once i have the following systems:

Food- mealwood is a good starter but consider upgrading to mushrooms as they need very little maintenance and only need slime as fetilizer and co2 surroundings. the calories and quality is much better and it can be cooked to increase it further.

Power- oil to nat gas boiler is the most efficeint form of power production. there are many guides on the forum for this sort of thing. the general idea is using something very hot (lava or volcanoes) to turn oil into nat gas. if you find a volcano keep a note of it as it is very usefull

Water- a bathroom loop uses some starting water but outputs more pH20 which can be seived into fresh water. excess water goes into storage for use in o2 production or whatever

O2- my personal preference for o2 is using 2 algee deoxidisers early on then upgrading to lifegrows brute force mass production system. check out his YT channel to find it.

I tried again with the suggestions and it helped a lot but I admit i’m still struggling.

It’s just taking too long to build things given that it feels like i’ll run out of resources before it’s done. At 150 I can’t seem to get my natural gas plant built while keeping everything else running. I tried to get a hatch farm going for coal, they eventually died without eggs though I had dropped fertilizer and dirt for them. I feel like power is the last big missing piece for me now. I’ll try to search for more hatch farm stuff.

I can’t seem to cure dupes once they get ill. I’ve tried med beds, pharma chambers, showers, placebos, massage tables. I have another dupe set to highest priority ‘care’.

I ended up with lots of germy non-polluted water, which I fed into bristle berries, but that didn’t use it all. Where use can I use this?

There was cool steam geyser right at start and was planning to run the water through an ice biome to cool it for an endless supply so I wasn’t worrying about that as much.

I went for a bigger mealwood, bristle, dusk cap farm without cooking and it worked really well until ~70, I was barely staying at 10,000kcal. I ran out of space to expand the farm and neighboring biome temperatures were harder to plant things like mealwood. I’ll try other plants in other areas next time.

I would start with the biggest problem with your base first.  It's utterly loaded with Natural Gas and almost no Oxygen.   This means your dupes are getting, at best, 50% of time working, the other 50% is running for somewhere with air.  I personally would restart your map and chalk it up to a learning experience.  But, onto the other items in question.

You have five dupes, that requires at most 25 mealwood or 15 mushrooms.  I don't understand why you're running out of food so much, nor farming so much.  Here's an example of a mushroom farm that feeds 24 dupes:

An early cool steam geyser is semi-useful.  Mostly to know where it is.  Typically you eventually feed it directly into your electrolizers once you've got exosuits and are in a position to use the geyser.  You can also use your germy water in an electrolizer for O2, as the Food Poisoning won't care if it's made into air.  Or use it for the lavatories.

Sick dupes will heal after about 5 cycles as long as someone can care for them.  You want to keep food and latrine usage to a very short trip if possible.  Here's an example of one of my med bay setups:

For a Natural Gas Plant, try to isolate it early, or while it's dormant.  You'll want to force the geyser to be as isolated as possible so the gas stays where you want it.  This isn't the best setup, as you can see I screwed up and let a bunch of PO2 into the containment room, but it gives you a general idea.
