Clothing - how to force dupes to wear it?

Recommended Posts

I managed to find/craft warm/cool sweaters, but if i "assign" them to someone, they just disregard that order and continue delivering 15 grams of Sandstone to the storage containers as usual. The only way i've found to force them to wear it is to move them next to the sweater and open jobs and forbid them all jobs ... then they change clothes. Is there a better way to force them to change? This seems like a tedious way to handle things if i want to switch clothes fast while exploring the Antarctic / needing snazzy suit vs stress.

I find it relatively easy now.

Set tidy to high and only to target dupe. Assign clothes. Sweep 9. They go pick it up & wear it.

So if I have, say Stinky, I give him tidy with //\\(2x ^) and everyone else Tidy not with (2x ^) ? Then I click on the sweater, I assign it to stinky, then click sweep and set priority to 9? Hm, ok, I will try that. However, I still need to rework all of Stinky's priorities(to have Tidy as highest) + all other ppl's sweep priorities to less than 2 up-arrows.

Also, I think the sweep task itself is different from the "assign"(which has hidden priority(maybe 5 by default?) and hidden/none(?) category) or "change clothes"(which does not exist and we want it to exist).

  • If I set the sweater for sweeping the dupe will try to put it in a storage container, as containers can store clothes(option appears after you find/craft something). If I increase the priority, they will put it faster, but will they really wear it ?
  • Even if that works, My current working setup is to disable all tasks ONLY for Stinky(put X everywhere in priorities ONLY for him, not touching anything for other dupes) and then bring him next to the sweater. This is easier than the if I have to switch Stinky's priorities + everyone else's Tidy priority(I have 15-20 dupes, so actually columns are even longer than rows).

We need a rack for clothes just like the exosuit so we can equip dupes with warm cloth when they enter winter. Biome and cold cloth when they enter hot biome

Storage container can store clothes and you can choose which storage container stores which clothes, so this partially solves the issue. However, making dupes actually change clothes when they pass by that container is another story - that would be a nice option.
