This is what my asteroid surface looked like by around cycle 200. Thousands of tons of 500 °F regolith. Every time a pile falls down my tunnel, I get 100-200 tons in one spot that immediately boils and melts everything around it and takes 5+ cycles to sweep up. I have no idea how to build anything useful on the surface because every meteor shower I get a hundred tons more built up on my bunker doors. As others mentioned this is also probably the cause of 1-2 minute loading times even with the fastest SSD and memory available. Is this a bug? If not I hope this design changes.

Based on the last couple of patch notes (one of which is still on the front page) Klei seems to be operating under the assumption that they are separate issues.  The previous notes mentioned something targeting Regolith, the other is specifically focused on the load problem.

They will eventually figure out that giving us hundreds of tons of regolith a cycle is a bad idea.

They have to play with the numbers more.  They reduced the size of the deposits to like 3 per large asteroid which is nice but now the meteors are driving deeper in to the surface because there isn't as many blocks of regolith in their way to stop them.

It does change the late game oxygen stuff.  Instead of making lox I built a room with lots of deodorizers to convert the oxygen.  You make a lot of clay this way.  Also instead of needing to boil polluted water as much you can use sweepers to guarantee the machine uses regolith.  It changes things but it is still too much.

As far as I understand, the size of regolith deposits is limited from above. That is, our revenue regolith, ideally, is directly proportional to the width of the zone, which we want to keep free. Do you want 30 solar generators? Prepare to process hundreds of tons of regolith. Do not want to recycle - do not dig.

And since people first thoughtlessly accumulate hundreds of tons of resources, and then start complaining. Why can not you think about the consequences of your actions before you commit them?

As for me, so the amount of regolith is normal. The very idea of filling an asteroid from above with hundreds of meteors seems strange, yes. But this is clearly done for balance - so that there is no battery of solar generators in the full width of the map. And so it turns out a "natural" restriction. And the maximum that they can do with it is to reduce the amount of regolith in one block, but this, in my opinion, is far from the best solution.

Yes, but regolit there in the form of blocks. Same as 90% of the rest of the asteroid. They do not increase our save? Rather, I will believe that a bunch of small pieces of sand and iron scattered all over the surface have a bad effect on performance. But not ordinary blocks.
