Power(electric) on HUD.

Recommended Posts

Simple, in addition to Population, Stress, Immunity and Calories, add one more indicator "Power". If there is more than one grid, then it can show own value for each(altho i have no idea how to identify them at this point).

In its basic form it would show current status of colony power output, eg plus(producing more than consuming) or minus(consuming more than producing, aka running on batteries). So if i see "+612W" i know that my total production covers my needs and i even overproduce quite a lot, allowing me to either add stuff that consumes energy or turn off some generators.

With more detailed info showing how much energy is produced by what type of generators(how much is produced at any given time and total projected production per cycle at current rate); battery max capacity/current storage/runoff(as simple as 600/200/30 kJ); consumption by type of building, current/projected; and possible active/inactive power producing/consuming buildings(aka if i have 8 Natural Gas Generators, but only use 4, with rest being disabled for whatever reason it would show "Natural Gas generator operational 4/8" or something along those lines).

All values are shown in variation of "current" and "per cycle", depending on values and types.

This is where the problem would be, of the top of my head i have something like 8 seperate grids, most are self powering but they would also show up which would be a headache. Unless you could attach a device to a cable and go from there.

I would just love it to show me the total % of my main grid

8 ? Holy shhh.... I just run one with transformers between areas. Would be nice to be able to adjust capacity of transformers, at least to some degree, but generally i get by.

Right now i have to build batteries here and there, to see how my power production is going, because constantly referring to my battery bank, that is on the edge of the map is a bit annoying.

Each of my Natural gas Geysers have their own power grid and automation so they well pump etc to my base on their own. Same for Hydrogen.

It helps when your map is large and saves you having to take wires all the way to them etc.

Also many people run smart batteries and control the generators to produce exactly the power they need. So in their case, and mine, the extra generated power would always be 0 (or at least average 0).

I think because we have so many different ways to generate power, we’ll have to work with the power report. It’s not on the HUD, but does provide a lot of good information.
