Dirmagnos Posted June 4, 2018 Share Posted June 4, 2018 Allows construction of 2 new pieces of equipment. Respirator - reduces amount of slumelung from inhaling polluted oxygen by 50%. Wears out eventually. Breathing apparatus - allows to stay longer in low-oxygen environments. Comes in 2 varieties. One is cheap, have low capacity and is heavy(-10% movement speed), must be recharged after oxygen supply runs out(could have recharge station like exosuid does, takes few seconds, more of a hassle than real problem). Second is more expensive, needs refined metals and plastic to craft. and uses cheap version as basis(to prevent crating stockpile of old hardware that has no use), consuming it in the process; has moderate capacity, does not require recharging station(slowly charges on its own when in oxygen-rich atmosphere) and has no speed penalty. Both of them can be worn alongside regular clothing, but not together. Dupes put them on automatically when needed to conserve oxygen/filter. The second varierty of oxygen bottles seems somwhat redundant sice by the time you have both refined metal (easy enough) and plastcs (harder), you can just go for the exosuit.whch kind of does the same thing with full prtotection from germs and a far number of hazards. (Maybe if exosuits could be upgraded that's be a good one) The first one though if it required only regular or refined metal could be a nice middle game option between 'breath holding' and the suit. Since equipement here would be something duplicant can war alongside clothes toprovide them an advantage an now that the surface is a thing that exist... may I suggest a jetpack a a possible option ?Or rocket boos (it's abit silly but it'd fit with the slighty cartoony side of the game I think). If full flight turns out to be a little complicated for our brave duplicants to handle (ie to code int the AI) it could mabe instead double or triple jump size. Upgrading dupes instruments for doing what they do(upgraded gun they use for minions for example) is a possibility. Curious to hear developers thoughts on this. Idea is to start this whole thing, additional equipment could be added later, depending on need. (Maybe if exosuits could be upgraded that's be a good one) Problem with exosuits is that they need a whole lot of infrastructure to operate(and if i build several entrances/exits then dupes tend to run around in those exosuits as they do not return them, then i have manually to resupply exosuits at station, irritating) and dupes cannot run in them without top level training. Plus, exosuits are more for extreme conditions, like "basement" with its high temperatures. I only build those for anything else if there is need for dupes performing extensive tasks, like working metal refineries located in hydrogen. I generally get bored and start new game before i start building them everywhere. I generally build colony with all dupes being "Uncultured"(imo most useful trait out there) and one or two having "Germ Resistant", so that i have someone doing some art. Up to 10 dupes i just save scum to reroll dupes(when new dupe is inbound, instead of opening new arrival window, i just save, then check available dupes, if none of new arrivals are of interest to me, i just reload save, as dupe stats are determined moment player opens recruitment window) to build up some force fast, then i just discard them time after time till i get good combo with "Uncultured" as main requirement. Anyway. Ive been thinking about perks that would not interfere with primary stats, but have their own specific unique bonuses, that dupe cannot acquire any other way. Like "Acrobat" could climb 3 tile high ledges, instead of 2. Or "Curious" could have a small chance to occasionally gain skill exp boost(Eureka). Same with negative traits. "Anxious" tend to just stop things that he is doing(similar to when dupes suddenly feel the need to take a **** and drop whatever they are doing) for no good reason. "Hypochondriac" can temporarily gain negative condition penalties without having negative condition. That kind of thing. Not that I necsarily disagree about most traits only shuffling stats around but this is where it's good to remember this is still only in alpha. A change in how dupliant stats ad traits are handled is still quite possible in the future But in't that's kind off geting on a very different subject that the one you originaly gave the thread here ? I had a list of more backpacks. But the fact that they friggin drop stuff all the time is extremely infuriating. I tend to build in sections of set width and height, with long shafts in between, that go from top to bottom(for transport, power lines, liquid and gas pipes) and every time one of those imbeciles drop something for no good reason, it goes all the way down to the bottom. Why to frak cant they put what they are carrying to the nearest ledge is beyond me. +5 to backpacks. Its from same category as building/digging themselves in all the time. Feels like they do it intentionally to piss me off, lol. Atleast in my play throughs.. dupe can bring majority if not all resources required for builds in one go unless it requires two resources. I think gofer should have athletics boost. Making crosstraining of gofer and groundskeeper more valuable. But yeah I had a few ideas for different backpacks they could add.
