Genetic splicing plz

Recommended Posts

This would be really nice for Seeds, allowing you to modify the requirements and benefits of plants while also providing a use for the Seeds.  Ex mix a Sleet Wheet Grain with some Pincha Pepper Seeds to shift the "comfortable" temperature down.  Or vice versa, make Sleet Wheat live warmer.  Use a large number of Bristle Blossom seeds to increase the number of Berries per harvest.  Use some Mealwood seeds to reduce the amount of Water consumed.  Etc.

Would allow for a new Job, Junior Botanist, which requires Farmer (T2) and Research Assistant (T1) to promote to.  Allows promotion to Botanist job, etc.  Tech gated on the third layer of the tree, allows construction of the Seed Splicer (name?).  Consumes Power and Seeds to perform a variety of different alterations to the plant Seeds.

The point would be to place it mid-to-late in the tech tree, with multiple Job requirements, and a lot of micro and record keeping involved to make any significant changes to the plants in question.  This keeps it out of reach of new players until they can reach a minimum level of stability.

We should be able to create genetic monstrosities with some fancy technology machines. That way we can have flying hatches and shine bugs that eat polluted oxygen and bacteria.

Not sure this is a good idea. Maybe plant morphs are a good idea now. There’s too many creatures already
