MythN7
i have taken it down and rebuilt it, but it instantly keeps breaking. its in a cold biome, but none of the other pipes are doing this. I am pumping PW between -10 and -20C currently. Its the piece plugged into the sieves output node. is this a bug or how abys works now? just realized that node is actually at 40C cause its the processed water. Might be cause the pipe is being made from the cold abys mat i dug up? Coolthulhu
What's the temperature around the sieve? If it drops below 0C for long enough, the water may "supercool" inside the sieve, before it gets to the pipe. Then it will enter the pipe and immediately freeze. MythN7
Heres the temp currently and the inventory temps. I took down the sieve and rebuilt it, and so far its not breaking that pipe anymore. Knock on wood. I am in an ice biome, and this PW is from the melting ice, and from my NG and 2 petro gens that I am feeding to the electro to turn into o2 and hydrogen to keep the nullifier running when the area becomes hotter than 23C Right now the temp just to the left of the compost you see is about -7 to +1 as jumping all over the place temp. The water the pump is in is -17C Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89897-why-do-i-have-1-abys-pipe-seg-that-keeps-taking-cold-damage/#findComment-1027055 Share on other sites
Kabrute
yeah its freezing the clean water coming out of the sieve o.o Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89897-why-do-i-have-1-abys-pipe-seg-that-keeps-taking-cold-damage/#findComment-1027066 Share on other sites

Kabrute
their seive glitched, its not producing 40c pwater doesn freeze till below -23 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89897-why-do-i-have-1-abys-pipe-seg-that-keeps-taking-cold-damage/#findComment-1027072 Share on other sites

So its 40C when its cleaned, not when its transferred out? Coolthulhu
10 minutes ago, MythN7 said: So its 40C when its cleaned, not when its transferred out? Yes. Most machines that output into pipes first "stash" the output inside themselves. Even pumps do that. Items stored in machines exchange temperature with environment as if they weren't contained. This is not a glitch but expected behavior. So then you could put the sieve right beside a nullifier and use a valve so that it only lets say 100g threw, making the bulk of the fluid locked in the pipe, so that you dont need other cooling methods? I know this would be very limited in terms of useful volume, just seeing if I get the mechanic right. If you put a valve on polluted water, you slow down production, which makes draining it easier. But valve on the clean water will only make it stay in the sieve longer, meaning more temperature exchange. Also, on the pic, all the water is fed into electrolyzer, which ignores input temperature. It's best to feed it water near boiling temperature.
