crypticorb
This idea would introduce a new item: the air circulation fan. It would essentially be a simply box fan, taking up a 2x1 space, could be oriented horizontally or vertically, and could be faced in any of four directions. Its primary function would be to move air around at a decent rate, for a small investment in power. Some simple applications would be to move oxygen away from your electrolyzer (or vents from them), to move the air from a higher concentrated spot into the direction the fan is facing. I typically set up my bases with a single vertical shaft, with electrolyzers at the top or bottom, and have difficulty moving the air away from them to lower concentration areas without setting up a complex ventilation system. The box fan would make it trivially easy to even out the oxygen concentration at the earlier stages of the game. It could also make certain setups for cooling gasses with the A.E.T.N. by moving the air across it faster. One application I would VERY much like to see is using the fan for blowing cold hydrogen across my power generators, blowing the cold hydrogen from the A.E.T.N. across the room, and sucking up the heated hydrogen, making a neat air-cooled power system. If you can think of any other applications, I'd love to hear them. TheExceed
A good set up I recently saw was having your electrolyzers right next to the entropy machine in cold biomes. Ship all your water up there, have a gas shut off automated with a thermo sensor to shut off when it gets to 65, then pipe it around your base. Can even send hot geyser water immediately to it if you want. Ambaire
It would be a lot more tolerable if air didn't flow like molasses. If I'm creating a near vacuum on one side of a room and 2000g/tile on the other side, I expect hurricane-force winds to sweep across the room, not the pathetic mosey it does right now. Ambaire
Bumping this thread. I suggest the 'Fan' take the form of a 3x2 Boxfan machine. It would remove gas from the input 3x1 area and move it to the output 3x1 area, just like a wheezewort, but without the cooling. Freely rotatable to point in any of the four available directions.
