MythN7
Would be great if the sweeper could load the aerial traps with bait. Since sweepers have what I would consider a very small scoop range for cleaning debris, seems they are more designed for loading and unloading (IE the loading trap request) Could you make a special way for debris to be picked up? Two ways I can think of are: 1-have the conveyor box crates always spinning showing them when empty / full. So the loader can still drop items in the track, but also any debris in the same tile an empty box drives over will "scoop" up stuff without the ability to filter what is allowed the way a loader can. (so burying tracks in blocks, or enclosing in clean halls, keeping floating in the air, ect. would be the way to prevent them from "scooping up stuff") This could also be balanced in game from the very very high chance of your tracks getting backed up and clogged if you dont have an unloaded area setup to handle the random crate contents. 2- the second method could be to have a special sweeper that you build. which has a track node. So the sweeper would travel back and forth along this rail with its sweep range sucking up stuff and then dropping it off at the 1st spot it can find along its route that can take the cargo its holding. Another related suggestion about this game mechanic is. could you add a special track filter like the pipe ones, that let us pick which container category is passed threw, kinda like how you can pick what is allowed to go in a compactor. Supraluminal
It's awkward to do, but you can filter conveyor contents right now by dumping your rail into a receptacle and then building a sweeper and multiple loaders in range. So let's say you have a rail carrying both granite and iron ore from a remote mining site and at some point near your base you want to send them to different destinations: At that point, end the rail in a receptacle, build your sweeper and two loaders, and set the loaders to accept granite and iron ore respectively. Then you can build separate rails from there. It's a space, resource, and power-intensive way to do it, for sure, but it does work. I would also be happy to see a conveyor filter/router building that lets us handle the problem in a more streamlined fashion. Ever play modded minecraft and use the Item Router from Immersive Engineering? Something like that for conveyor rails would be AMAZING. Quote The Item Router has a GUI. It has a collection of slots for each side of the Item Router. Clicking an item into one of these slots will not put the item into the slot, but it will configure the Item Router to output that item through that specific side into an inventory when it enters the Item Router. If the Item Router doesn't have configuration for a specific item, it will output that item through a random side. The Item Router will only output items if it can output to an inventory (or Conveyor Belt), and if it cannot route an item, that item will not be accepted into the Item Router. Lastly, items cannot be outputted from where they entered.
