Flammable - > Explosion arrive soon ?

Recommended Posts

Fire and explosions are the main big outer space hazard that the game hasn't already got. So I'm sure it will be in a future update. Next update after this one is Rancher Mark 2 so doubt it will be in that. Fire is a lot of fun, and really scary to deal with.

Fire in Prison Architect was well implemented - but was too easy to prevent it from ever happening. In ONI I hope there's plenty of ways to cause fires and explosions, even from random events. You could even have neat things like if your grill chef goes to the toilet mid-cook there's a chance for the grill to catch fire.

Sprinklers and fire extinguishers, or flooding with fire-quelling gas could combat fire - but then you have to deal with the fallout of using those methods. A base covered in sopping water or full of extinguisher gases. You may have to pump out bad stuff or re-oxygenise a section of the base.

Then there's lots of creative ways you could use fire, to heat things or burn things for different benefits. And the community can come up with fun ways to deal with fire outbreaks. Make your whole base out of mesh tiles and if there's a fire, open the doors to a huge reservoir overhead and watch a waterfall course through your base :)

The flamable property has been in the files for quite a while, i think.

While it seems like a planed feature at some point, i wouldnt take the database entry as an indication for a near release.

But if you take a look at this neat little picture, you will see that oxygen is not many steps away from the ISS Oxygen generation system. One missing component so far: Fire detection & Supression.
