Problem with circuit: generator-intelligent battery-transformer

Recommended Posts

This is due to a quirk of how the Transformer is coded to work.  The Refinery has a draw of 1.2 kW.  While the Transformer is able to support a circuit with a draw of up to 4 kW, it is supplied in "packets" of 1 kW 4 times per second.  Because the Refinery has a draw of 1.2 kW, which is greater than 1 kW, it's not getting enough power to function properly.

The easiest fix is to put any size Battery on the circuit.  This creates a supply buffer to get around the programming limitation of the Transformer.

I have another circuit with smart and normal batteries, and a circuit has 960W, but this transformer has no power because the generators are off, but this circuit still works because it supplies some electrolyzers, I think it works because they do not need a dupe

connect the refinery directly to a battery

I did that and the refinery works, but the transformer keeps showing that it has no energy. and why in the second image also appears the transformer without power. I think the problem is that the transformer takes power from the generator and not the battery, and when the generator is off, the transformer appears without power

Transformers also have a Battery sub-function.  If the Transformer is empty, it means the circuit (including any Batteries on it) are drawing more power than the Transformer is receiving.  The same thing should be happening to any Batteries that are "above" the Transformer.

That most recent schreenshot is a little strange...  the large Batteries are all about empty, but the Smart Battery is nearly full...  despite the Smart Battery having a smaller capacity...

They are empty because the smart battery have a lesser power turnoff than the normal battery

use 2 coal generator simultaneously, one gen is only 600w but your load is 1200w, so you have to make 2 coal generators running together

But when I automate the smart battery with the generator, the latter goes off and the transformer appears without power, should I place the batteries after the transformers?, then should I have one battery for each circuit that leaves the transformer?

The refinery works if I put a normal battery in the row of smart batteries, but the transformers continue to appear with no battery when the generator is turned off by the automation, although the transformer still has 1000J, and if I put only smart batteries, the transformer spends its energy and stays at 0J, so the refinery does not work until the generators are activated.

It should be able to place only smart batteries and run the circuit

The point is that you are not generating enough power to support the machinery you are trying to use.  Just to run the Refinery itself at 1.2 kW, you need to be running both Coal Generators (600 W each) continuously the entire time the Refinery is running.  You would be using 100% of the power generated.  And this says nothing about the Water Pump, and any other machinery you have connected to that other Transformer that runs up to the Electrolyzers and their Air Pumps.

To put it another way, you must construct additional Pylons.

do your hydrogen generator and coals are automated?, you seem to have sufficient power for metal refinery and other stuff

update:

dont worry about the "no power" icon on transformers because it will always show up when your generators (hydrogen and coal) are disabled by automation, i did a little experiment

Yes, but when the machine needs a dupe it does not work, like the refinery

Edit: I think the problem is only with the machines that need more than 1kw

So the refinery and the transformer can not take the stored energy from the batteries and they have to work with the generator, so why are the batteries?

This did not happen in the previous upgrade because there were no smart batteries and the generators always worked

remove automation, works just fine with me

but the generators will continue to work and it is a waste of resources. I think the smart battery and automation were implemented for that, to turn off the generators and not waste resources
