So shouldn't it need some kind of material for that? Nothing fancy mind you, just some Dirt and Water (clay?) in order to be able to print, who remembers the intro to Full Metal Alchemist. And I think the printing pod should require a deposit of genetic ooze equal to the mass of a duplicant - 30kg. Or perhaps 5kg genetic ooze and 25kg of water. Think of it as a way to get rid of unwanted seeds - or growing dupes. Perhaps it can come loaded with a few hundred kg at game start...and ease people into it.
