Does tune-up wear off if a generator is idle?

I noticed this myself, which is why I immediately go for iron deposits and only refine that metal.

I haven't really played around with refined metals except for building electrical wiring though.

Nothing lasts forever, just produce refined metals on demand and you'll be fine.

Except water, oxygen, hydrogen, natural gas, food, carbon dioxide, algae, polluted water, love, and most everything that isn't a mineral or metal :P. 

Lots of things are renewable resources, metal just isnt one.
