Wing93
Can we have a building that controls which dupes can pass through based on their needs? I got a base where the steam and nat gas geysers spawned very close to the top right corner of the map, so they have to walk a long way there to build anything... Except a lot of times, they just go there, build/mine for half a second before going back to base to eat. I'd love it if we could have a checkpoint that only lets dupes past it if they have >x amount of calories in them, or >x amount of "bladder", and if they don't meet the requirements, then the building makes them go eat/use the toilet before getting through. The exosuit checkpoint could also have a calorie check before letting people through, so that if you have one, you don't need an "explorer checkpoint". Kabrute
calorie bladder checkpoint for the win. Dupetron Scanner 5000 for the TSA agent in us all. Displays dupes skeletal (or what passes for one) system on transit. Steelflame
You can "fix" the food situation by locking when the mess hall is open and storing all food behind said lock. Let it only open at the start of the cycle by an automation timer for something like 20 seconds, and have another door that is an exit only direction set, and then move the food in via the new conveyor system (Or just have a single dupe with 2 way door privilege to the mess hall who specifically moves it there as its made), and you can effectively hard control the dupe hunger checks. You may also want to lock the kitchen to only the cook, but so long as you are consistently having food in the mess hall area they should always grab that anyway once they woke up, and have enough food to make it to the next morning where they do so again. You could also technically do the same for bathrooms, but its a bit higher risk of them making a mess. Honestly, doesn't even have to be something high tech, just a wall with a poster that says "remember to eat well and void your bladder before venturing out into the depths of the asteroid" would suffice. 15 hours ago, Steelflame said: You can "fix" the food situation by... That's actually a good idea... I'd have to move my food storage out of carbon dioxide though, since I don't have access to the conveyor system just yet. It's still far from ideal, but should work. I think it may be better to have mess hall and toilets in the same complex with barracks and open the entry right before the night (while they can get out any time). That way they can sleep and take care of all their needs either before or after they sleep and won't interrupt during the day. Another possible approach is of course to have outhouses and food depots all around the map and have duplicants without a bed and mess table. (I should mention that @Saturnus was the first one I have seen proposing the no-bed approach, this is only expanding on the topic).
