geniusthemaster
can anyone send up some snapshots of a working smelter? my brain wont let me build it cause i cant find any liquid that will stay cool enough for liquid intake and outake Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87188-im-having-trouble-with-the-furnace-smelter/ Share on other sites
Zarquan
I don't have snapshots, but I do have some advice. No liquids have a high enough heat capacity to not heat up in a refinery. However, there are options. Crude oil is a good choice. It has a very high boiling point. If you refine it while it's hot, it deletes the heat. Same with petroleum with the petroleum generator. You can also use polluted water and use a water sieve to set the temperature to 40 C. Same with water and a carbon skimmer, though the carbon skimmer needs carbon dioxide to operate. You can also use the heat to your advantage. There are quite a few nice things that happen at high temperatures. If you heat polluted water enough, you can end up with clean steam, which can be cooled to water, but you can do that with an aquatuner. I am building a scheme which uses molten iron as the "coolant." I plan to use the high temperatures to boil crude oil to natural gas, which gives a lot more power than petroleum. zzKratoszz
Polluted water is probably the best thing you'll have in your first few cycles. If you want some early game refined metal without the rock granular penalty. Just a few hundred Kg is plenty to start some automation.
