The Plum Gate
I'm thinking that if a job role is required for building something, that the research should also require or add experience to the job role - at the novice terminal, leaving the supercomputer to the scientist role. This research would also provide additional experience to the field for that duplicant - or gate the research until a qualified duplicant can do the research. An example being the ore transit research would require someone that's a mechatronics professional, and the novice research could be done by this duplicant. Advanced automation - electrical engineer. Saturnus
The research system is obviously broken but I think it's on purpose so that we can actually get the research done without too much hassle on the early access stage of the game. If advanced technologies was locked behind even remotely realistic barriers no one would get to testing the features in the game out. Kabrute
I still haven't built a mechanical grabber arm.... or even put a dupe in a suit since Occupation Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/86938-novice-researchers-ideas-regarding-jobs-and-related-field-research-requirements/#findComment-997735 Share on other sites
Ricordis
What happens if a Dupe dies but you have no research options for a novice scientist to level up? Kabrute
jobs level while dupes sleep, eat, go to bathroom Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/86938-novice-researchers-ideas-regarding-jobs-and-related-field-research-requirements/#findComment-997754 Share on other sites

ONI is much to slow now. I have basic base setup and one geyser cooling - 300 cycles. The Plum Gate
Me either, but dupe leveling is very slow as well. Idea here being that they'd level up faster doing novice research in the field they're working in. Sounds a bit complicated but it's not meant to be exclusive, anyone could do the research, the dupes with the role would add that research to their priorities.
