Now we have fast moving diggers that can't mine through abyssalite, granite, and so on. If the exosuit specialist job also gave the wearer the perks of the apprentice miner or miner, then that would be something. Right now the courier requirement only makes sense as training which conditions the wearer for the inevitable hit in athletics. So the exosuit specialist's athletics bonus is made irrelevant or negated and and whatever skill level they had determines how fast they move in it - but we know this much - the problem is that we have to put our skilled miners in it and have them dig through the hard stuff - and they'll do it relatively quickly, but take for ever to get there. Movement networks or runspeed increases on account of tile types might be just as important. It's taking me forever to reach the oil biome... just hitting cycle 100, and it looks like I'm another 50 away, at which point I'll be trying to figure out how to either cool the geyser water or melt the ice ( or both ). It is like they assume once in exosuit (and have that job) that there was nothing you wanted your dup to do on the other side. This is the one job that makes no sense since it is not a job! It needs to stack or be dropped. I agree - with the buff being kind backwards to the skill achievement itself, I'm hoping that the end result of the completion of the job entails permanent addition of the buff or qualifications ( if not partial ) traits. This would mean that all of these job titles would become new traits not showing up in random dupe selection - we make them while playing. And the jobs themselves, where machines require the trait rather than the role, wouldn't need someone specifically assigned to that job role - but rather someone with that trait who is also allowed to do that job via specific assignment on the job board checkbox system. That would mean that the prior job roles which are completed 100% become a trait of the duplicant. If the job role assigning gives permanent bonuses, then I don't mind it. Right now, I micro the pull up box jobs list only - otherwise I assign rolls as needed and do a bit of waiting for them to level. I think the key point is that when they're in that role they prioritize those chores.
